Okay, people, only 30 days to go before your house has to be "Better Homes and Gardens" ready for friends and family!!

The challenge is to do ONE thing a day that advances your home toward receiving guests. It might be wiping down the baseboards, dusting the stair banister, hauling down the fake Christmas tree, etc, just as long as it is geared toward making your house more cosmetically presentable for the onslaught of people who probably won't even notice that there is a little dust on your tv, but who you want to impress with a spotless house anyway.

Do I HAVE to?

Well, I took down my Thanksgiving/Fall decorations today. I can't put up any Christmas/Winter things, yet, as they are all in my parents basement. However, our basement will finally be finished on Tuesday and we'll pick them up next weekend. So, taking down the other decorations were my action for today which helps me get ready for the other preparations!

I was just thinking about this today when I walked by areas of my house that are embarassing, thinking I need to do a little bit at a time.

I DO need to get busy cleaning, but of course, in the past always waited until the week before to kick it into gear.

Fuss at me please if I do not report in daily (Starting tomorrow) to let everyone know of my progress. :dishes:

My one thing today is that I cleaned up the junk and dead equipment from around the outside of the house, to make it look a little less like a junkyard!

tomorrow I want to get my van cleaned out. we usually go out to look at Christmas lights several times before Christmas....it's nice to go in a clean vehicle!

Well, I did do the dishes tonight after supper and I cleaned up a mess I made on the kitchen floor. Does that count? :dishes:

Tomorrow my main project IS my kitchen. I need to wash down the cabinets and clean out my refrigerator ( Sad, sad)
I think I found an experiment in a bowl in the back of the bottom shelf.

Today we hauled trash so that tidied up some things inside and out.

Tomorrow, clean off the kitchen island. We've been in and out all week long and stuff has accumulated there.

Cleaned the living room and put up the tree in there. Scrubbed the two walls where the tree was put up.

Oh I am soooo in on this!!! My decorating is done but I still have tons of baking to do, tidy up the outside, wash all bedding for Ds who will be home from school (and other out of town guests), clean DS's room (it's been my crafting, wrapping, stockpile, gift, catch all room while he is gone), deep clean the fridge, stove, pantry, make food lists, wrap gifts...... Do you want me to go on. :laugh:

Today I picked up some stocking stuffers and a couple more gifts and mailed a parcel. So at least something accomished today!

Boy,...I got my kitchen cabinets, stove and range hood cleaned with Lysol and comet. Oh and the top of my refrigerator. Ya see, I am too short to see the top of it without a chair, so it doesn't bother me because I can't see it. :hubba:

Baseboards will be tomorrow.

Something else I did was to clean up the crafting supplies and projects from off of my dining table. I now am keeping what I am working on in a medium sized clear plastic bin. I labeled the top with "crafting projects". So, so much better and not laying out all over my table when I am not working on something.

My house is decorated due to the tour of homes but I am still cleaning it. I still need to mail cards, do some baking and wrap gifts.

Today, clean off the breakfast bar. Had it clean for Thanksgiving so I don't know where all of this stuff came from!

Great idea for a challenge. Besides cleaning and food preparation for Thanksgiving, on Wednesday I ordered two Christmas gifts. Yesterday I purchased another gift at the store. Today I wrapped the gift I purchased yesterday.

The men came and installed the carpet today after losing the basement to Irene, so we've started moving things back down and out of the living areas! Whoo-hoo!

dh had to go to the bank today and with Goodwill being right next to the bank I convinced him to drop my stuff off. he's a sweetheart

so today instead of cleaning out the van, I got rid of a huge bag of clothes, a bag of books we no longer use, and a huge box of toys and board games the kids no longer play with.

So today was maintenance. Ran swiffer with micro fiber cloth over the floors. How they got so dirty overnight I can not tell you. Must be all the males around here. Kept up with dishes, wiped down counters, put something away or threw away every time I moved from room to room.

Tonight will add the hand blown glass ornaments to the tree. These were the ones I would not allow the boys to hang yesterday, just too fragile.

Will clean 1/8 th of the bathroom walls tonight.

I finally cleaned off the counter where the Christmas "village" will be displayed. (Only two houses so far, but you have to start somewhere, right?)
