Cream Cheese and Grapes Spread

16 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup prepared mango chutney
1/2 tsp. curry powder
1 Tbsp. brandy
1/3 cup sliced almonds
1 Tbsp. shallots, minced
1 pound green grapes

Combine cream cheese, mango chutney, curry powder, brandy, almonds and shallots and mix well. Shape mixture in an oval shape. Cut some of the grapes in half and place on top of the cream cheese, cut side down. The end result should resemble a cluster of grapes, assuming that you have even a smidgen of artistic flair. Serve with remaining grapes and crackers. The flavor of this appetizer is very different, with the combination of the chutney, curry and brandy, and should be a big hit.

The Skinny: Use light cream cheese. Subscribers often ask for a substitute for alcohol in recipes. Unfortunately, we have yet to find such a substitute. Rather than add other ingredients that may change the flavor of the dish, the best method, if you must avoid alcohol, is to just omit it from the ingredients.
