CROCK POT APPLE BUTTER

5 pounds of apples --- peeled, cored & diced fine
2 cups of sugar
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of vanilla

place apples in crock
pour rest of ingredients on top
cook on low until thick and gooey -- about 4 hours
let cool and place in containers to freeze.
Freezes well.

UMMM, this sounds so good. I wish they sold apples at our farmers market.

Lori, thanks for the recipe, it sounds wonderful. I can't wait to make it. My kids love toast and apple butter with their breakfast.

Blessings,
Kathy

OMG! This sounds so easy even I could do it. I remember Mom working over the stove for hours to make this.

Chelle, it is kinda like apple jam if I remember right. We always spread it on our toast the same as jam. Sure is good.

Thanks for the recipe Lori.:)

I made this recipe today. It is wonderful:) I was tantalized by the smells of cooking apples and spices all day. It did take a bit longer than 4 hours but it was worth the wait. Thank you for posting the recipe.
