I forget where I read this recently, but I thought it was a great idea. Don't put any mail down. Either dispose of it or open it and put it where it goes as soon as you get it into the house. Half of it will be thrown away immediately and that will cut down on the paper mess. The rest you can open and toss the outer envelope and put the bill where it goes, or read the letter right away and put it somewhere to respond to.

I try to do this, but sometimes I don't. It's a great tip.

We have a PO Box- so before I leave the post office- sales flyers other than Rite Aid and the grocery store gets tossed into their recycling bin, along with offers for CC's, personal loans etc. Sometimes, I wish the bills can go in there too :D

I do this too. I have a divided basket (of course! I sell them what else would I use!) ;) that I put in the bills and such that can't be thrown away. I also keep stamps and return adress labels and stamps right there with them so I never have to hunt for things when it is bill paying time. :D

I stand by my shredder and do this. It's on the desk right by the trash can. I shred anything with our names on it. I have a notebook that I keep our bills in. One pocket is for bills that go out on the 1st and one pocket is for bills that go out on the 15th. If I don't do this daily it all piles up on top of our printer on the computer desk. :(
