they just passed a conseal/carry low here (MN) I really have no opinion on it cuz I don't really know the whole story. But I am leaning on the side of it is a good thing.

I was just wondering if in places that have the law currently, notice guns around? And if you visit other states that don't have the same law do you notice them not haveing guns?

I can't imagin being able to notice the difference.

Thanks

Not in the state we live in, but I know that NC does, relatives there, and the only difference that people have noticed is that there on signs on doors into alot of public places like libraries and such telling you to leave your gun outside. I don't really know if I like the whole idea, I believe that we all have the right to bear arms and all that, but there are too many drugged up, drunk and mentally challanged people out there that have applied for these permits, as well as everyday people. Most of them have been denied, but how many did get through the paperwork? or paid off the owner of the gun store?

In our state a person can get a permit to carry a concealed wepon permit...from the news reports its not that hard to get one....I think we are getting to many people shooting each other just from drinking to much and having an argument.
I do believe there are probably times that for your own protection and safety it could be a good idea...such as with a stalker....but I honestly do not think many people really need to carry a wepon...esp if that person has a temper!!

As far as I know, you have to have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Ga. I think the Right to Bear arms, should be tempered with common sense. It is against the law for convicted felons to carry guns. Of course, the law means nothing to them, anyway, or they wouldn't be convicted felons. I know a lot of people are against the Brady bill, but I think if it saves just one life, it's worth it. I have very conflicting ideas about gun control.

Conflicted is a good work for me too.

As I understand here you will have to apply for the permit, and they background check you, and you have to show some specific type of gun safty training.

And if you "pass" you get the permit. Before this new law you just had to apply and show why you needed to carry, and the sherrif decided to give you a permit or not.

I think this is more fair.

But bad guys won't follow the rules, but they didn't before. so now law abiding people can carry, but there will most likley be more accidents with more people carring them, but they had safty training and "the bad guys" most likly haven't

See conflicted.

I know I don't have a gun and don't plan on getting one any time soon. But it will be interesting to see how many "regular people" with out some sort of threatining job will carry.

Why would someone, other than law enforcement, NEED to carry a weapon around with them? I'm not talking about hunters, or guys on their way to the shooting range.......they wouldn't need to conceal. Maybe I don't get it, but it sounds dangerous to me. Here the permits are issued by the Sheriff's Dept.

The gun laws in NH are insane. You can own a gun at age 18- but you have to be 21 to buy one. So I guess as long a you have other people buying guns for you- that's OK. You can walk around in public with a gun on your hip- and as long as it's not concealed, it's OK.

A year or 2 back- there was a big hoopla about a 15 year old appied for a concealed weapons permit and the Sharriff's Office had to give it to him because there's no age restrictions. Of course, the kid said he needed it for personal protection.

Some who want one are people who carry lots of money to the bank, like a night deposit, or any big deposit. If you have a stalker and just want one. I am sure there are other jobs that are dangerous.

They did up the age to 21 to own and get a carry permit.

I live in a concealed weapon state. i don't notice much difference. it's my opinion that the bad guys never waited for a permit anyway. I've never seen a civilian whip out a gun and start shootin'.
