I'm on a mad mission today. I've thrown out 3 bags of garbage in uncluttering dh's dresser. He will never notice that he doesn't have anymore "holie" socks or that t-shirt with the horrible stains isn't there anymore.

He'll never notice some of the papers I threw out which he hasn't used in like forever and a day.

It feels good and his dresser looks so nice.

How about you, do you throw out your dh/so stuff, old clothes, papers, etc.

i do, dh forgets what he has anyhow. so i get rid of his ripped clothes...gonna save his jeans now that i saw that project fot the circle quilt...i throw out old cologne...half a bottle that he has not used in 5 years, lol. and his holie underclothes and socks. when i clean out his wardrobe i can get usually a few garbage bags full. I don;t throw out things i know that has sentimental value for dh, but i do get rid of the stuff i know that he doesn't really care about.

I am the trash lady for the whole family. I tried to get them all to donate clothes, etc. to good-will, but they don't get around to it. So, on days like today when I am off and they are at work or school, the bags of trash go out and donations to good-will are made too.

Oh my gosh, you guys are never going to believe this. Anytime I do throw his stuff out, he immediately notices. There has been times that he has gone to the trash or donation bag and taken stuff out. Now, please note that I would never get rid of anything that is still useful to him. It is usually thrown out because of holes or stains, but he swears he can work in the garage in them. He does work in the garage and does wear old clothes, but enough is enough. I need to do that for him again, because he was digging and rroting theough his drawers this afternoon and could not find what he was looking for!!!

Robin are you married to my dh's brother?

I swear the man continually takes stuff out of the garbage. I was in his workshop (which I don't declutter or move things around - thats his domain) and here I see some old jammies I had thrown out, and an old shirt with lots of stains. When I asked him where he got them from, he gets this silly grin on his face and says "I use them for cleaning up". Yah, right. The last time I was in his shop, they were exactly where they were when I asked him and he hadn't touched them.

So now I double bag them, put them in a large plastic bag and tie it shut!!!!

LOL, Robin and CJ my DH is the third brother! He discovers every pair of holey underware or sock that I throw out of his drawer and every pair of worn out, torn up nasty old work pants that make their way to the garbage bin. He does not usually dig them back out because I take them all the way out to the dumpster but he will notice. He thinks as long as a pair of underware have a waistband and 2 leg bands that there is still wear left in them, lol.

If I ever want a divorce, I will start throwing his things away. He is a third generation pack rat, and I cannot throw his junk away. It has gotten so bad with old clothes that I have stopped putting clean stuff in his dresser....I got tired of trying to jam stuff in around all the clothes that haven't fit him for 10 years that he won't toss and I'm not allowed to toss.

My refusal to fight with his dresser has been going on for a few months now, and he must have finally gotten tired of coming home to his clean clothes piled up in front of his dresser....DD#1 and I were out for a few hours this morning, and when I came home he had done a major declutter on his dresser and the floor around it. Now there are several bags of clothes on their way to the Salvation Army and I can go back to putting his clean stuff away......I knew my passive aggressive behavior would eventually pay off:D.

I put stuff together for him to go thru, knowing that he'll be asked to put away anything he keeps, He'll usually part with it ......

I do throw his holey stuff away when I can get him out of them..lol..he says there is no reason he can't wear them to work in since no one ever see's him. I say yea, unless you have to go to the bank, or the paint store, or to eat, etc..... I caught him the other day with a pair of jeans that had almost no crotch or butt in them and he thought I was going to let him leave the house..lol.

So he got cleaned out the other night!

Ladies, I must be the lucky one here...my dh will toss out his stuff when it gets non-wearable. He buys a few pairs of jeans and shirts twice a year and wears them until they wear out....socks and underwear are the same way....I am the packrat in this family....lol...I am however trying to change that...hopefully in about a month...this house will be declutter heaven!!

He has these white tshirts that are stained..I've said we needed to toss those and buy more and he says there's nothing wrong with them....so...I just let him wear these stained up shirts LOL!!

Angie--My husband has a problem with crocthless jeans to! Thats the first place his jeans wear out at and it drives me crazy when he wears those!!!! I have been known to rip them worse just so he'll throw them away

LMAO Robin!! I think we are all married to the same man!! I think my dh has more "work on the car clothes" than he does regular clothes. I'm constantly going through his stuff and tossing it out. A couple weeks ago I was going through a covered wicker basket he had. In it I found a Jordan Marsh credit card (they've been out of business ATLEAST 10 years), losing lottery tickets from 1991, rent receipts from about the same time, a whole stack of ATM receipts from banks that doesn't even exist anymore.

He loves to keep clothes he will NEVER fit into again for sentimental value. He now has a 40" waist- but I had to fight with him to get rid of his jeans he had since high school (the jeans were 20 years old) that had 32" waists (and yes- they were hanging in the closet), he also had a sweater that his high school math teacher whom he was having "extra curricular activities" with after school ;) bought for him .

Oh, and another excuse to not get rid of clothes he will never fit into again- I paid alot of money for that jacket!! Well good- I'm sure the person who buys it from the church thrift store will be more than appreciative to have it. :D
