A little history - my oldest son has been out of work for nearly a year. Last week, he has an interview & was told that he was hired & to come back the next day to fill out the necessary paperwork for his taxes , yadda,yadda. So Ds goes in the next day & was told that the computer was down & to return the next day...this cycle goes on through the weekend. Yesterday, he tries to talk to the manager who hired him only to be told that the manager who hired him wasn't the "hiring manager" and that the top manager had no idea what was going on & that Ds would have to return the next day to get the matter resolved. GGGGRRR. I can understand why he is so frustrated....why is it so difficult for companies to get their act together? This place reeks of mismanagement.Part of me questions that if Ds does get this matter resolved, would this place be worth it to work there b/c of all of the bs??....But he's been out of work for quite awhile & is desperate for any job that would give him an income....even at Krispy Kream Donuts. Please pray that this situation gets resolved. Thanks for listening

This happened to my DH about 3 months ago. He was told he had the job....went in and found out the guy who hired him was no longer there.

Had to go thru the interview process again, only to be told he was over qualified.....sooooo frustrating.

I think there are so many corporations that have lost so many people and are now trying to figure how to run the company with 1/2 the people.

Best of luck to you son. If it was me...I'd say "Take the job" especially if he's been out of work for a year. He can always look while he's employed, if this job is not what he thought it would be.

We've found out....it's so much easier to get a job while employed.

I can totally understand his frustrations. But if he doesn't have anything better to do then I would return and jump through whatever hoops they ask of him. As we all know here on FV that any job is better than no job and if nothing comes of it chalk it up to a learning experience.

And you never know when one door closes, another may open.

the one job i currently work at per deim - was a real pain to get started at - i was hired at my interview in late November - emailed and called in dec about orientation that was supposed to be called about - was set upin a feb orientation in january and finally got my orientation weeks in in feb - was set up for clinical stuff with someone who wouldnt answer my messages - had to call them to get clinical in ( which all was really just a formality - ihad more home care experience than most nures working there - so it wasnt like they had to teach me anything or i would have questions etc ).

in the end it was late feb before i actually started working on my own but it is one of the best jobs i could have right now.

they recognize my abilities / knowledge and experience and dont question me on every little thing like i see some other places do to their nurses ( one i work at as adminsitration 1x a month )
they let me work the way that is best for me and my family without any comments about it. they respect the fact i need to be able to work around my childrens needs and they come first .

so even though the start was rough - i am glad i stuck it out because in the end its been great .

i always notice that for me that the harder it is to get to a point i want to be at - the better it is once i am there .

Sure does sound like a pain. Great learning experience though for your son. Especially since you never know what kind of atmostphere you are getting into once you start working. There have been a couple of jobs that I ended up grinning and bearing until I found another job. After all I had bills to pay and just up and quitting was NOT an option. Not that I want your son to work in a horrible atmosphere but sometimes having a job until a better one comes along helps. Point out that he is also getting more experience interviewing. The actual hiring manager may be impressed with your sons tenacity.

Argh. I hate when people do this. My oldest thought he had a job in FL last year, and then they said they had put a freeze on hiring. After someone there told him the job was HIS!

He has a job now, luckily. But I know how my DS felt. My heart goes out to you and your DS.

I feel bad for your DS, how disappointing! My DD has had a hard time finding a job, also. She's supposed to start work at Taco Bell on Monday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her that it works out and also for your DS that he's able to find a job soon.
