Easy Almond Vanilla Soap

This is a wonderful gift soap. The addition of almonds gives it a
beautiful
texture, and help slough off dead skin cells. The scent of vanilla
makes it
smell just wonderful. This is a delightful recipe for soap, but it's
easy
since you start off with a bar of Ivory. Makes one bar.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup ground almonds
1 4-ounce bar Ivory soap
1/4 cup distilled water
1 tablespoon almond oil (or you can use vegetable oil)
1/8 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Grind the almonds to a fine powder in a food processor, blender or
coffee
grinder and set aside.

Grate the soap, or chop into tiny pieces using a very sharp knife.

In a heavy saucepan bring the water to a boil; then reduce heat to a
simmer; add the
bits of soap and stir gently until you have a nice smooth soap
mixture.
Remove the pan from the heat and add the ground almonds, almond oil,
and
vanilla fragrance oil, and the almond fragrance oil if you chose to
use it.
Stir until well blended. Spoon the liquid soap mixture into a mold
and let
set for at least 24 hours before using.

Oh, this sounds like a great soap. Thanks so much for posting it. I love "homemade" soap - its all we use! Do you think I could double or triple this recipe to make a few at a time? I have never made soap before - ever.

:)

If you have a good coffee grinder you can substitute almonds (Very expensive) for ground almond shells or ground peach or apricot pits....... They are great exfolients too !!!!!!

Thanks Angie !!!!!!!!

Sounds great! I have one question...Can you use other soap besides Ivory? My dh can't use Ivory, it turns his skin green!
