I thought I would share with you how I brought new life to an old door and spent little to do it. Some of my friends who saw my original blog post wanted to know more about how I painted the door. I rewrote my post and thought some of you frugal friends might want to see it and/or give it a shot. I did a lot of research on a method, but couldn't find what I was looking for and had to figure it out by trial and error. I have since done 5 more doors. One pair (I did) in a stronger grain color and strokes look more like rough wood, but I really like them too. I found there was no way around getting new hardware though.

I'm Inspired: Easy Door Makeover

I'd love to hear about any door makeovers any of you may have done!

If you're going to ask people to visit your blog, you might want to remove the "invited readers only" restriction. I'd love to see the makeover, but not if I have to go through the hassle of requesting permission to view your blog.

Edited to say: I see now that this was a very old post, so maybe that's why it's permission only now?

I'm sorry, I turned the blog off some weeks ago as I wasn't planning to post to it anymore as I started a new one. I have reset the settings and you should be able to view it now. :)

Thank you for the nice comments. I am so compelled to make things and fix things. Creating for me is such a rewarding process--it's been a part of me since I was a little girl. I know it is not for everyone, but for those who persevere, it a wonderful way of restoring an old ugly door to something quite lovely at such little cost.
