It's sunday morning and the house is soooooo quiet! Dh is sleeping and the kids have been gone allllllllll weekend! My former babysitter "missed" them (she obviously hasn't been around them lately--LOL) So she called me up and said she wanted them for the WHOLE weekend (insert picture of Graci doing the happy dance--LOL)

I spent yesterday cleaning house. An amazing thing happened: THE HOUSE IS STILL CLEAN!

They come home this afternoon. The house won't be quiet anymore and it won't be clean long.

In 11 yrs, I'll be sitting here longing for the days they argued and didn't pick up after themselves...but right now...I'm longing for the peace and cleanliness of an empty house...Do I need a psychiatrist or what?

I guess the best I can do is ride the bumpy road, enjoy the occassional lulls and have lots of water battles! ROFLMBO

Graci, Sounds heavenly, but you're right...soon enough you'll be longing for these days! Dh takes dd to church every Sunday morning and I do the shopping, but when I get home, it's just a little too quiet for me after about a half hour!

I would just like 1 hour every day for quiet reflection...me time. Is that too much for a Mom to ask for?

Must be! LOL

Actually, I'd be happy with "no" fighting. It seems the older they get the more they argue. I think it's because ds isn't as pliable to dd's ideas or wishes anymore. He's becoming his own little person and his likes and dislikes are becoming more defined.

You've no clue how often I sit and contemplate this phenomenon called growing up...sigh. Do all Mom's do this or is it just me?

I have one dd that is 17 and going away to college in the fall, another ds 16, who will go the year after that, ds #2 is only 11 but there is still hope that he will be picked up for college at 13 right? I am looking forward to a sewing room and guest room. I cant wait, I know how you feel Graci, my house has not been totally clean since the first baby I had 25 years ago, but cleaner days are on the horizon!

My oldest daughter is 18 & has been on her own since last Sept. There are times when I really miss having her home since it is just myself now.
They do grow up too fast, it seems like you are holding them in your arms one minute & then the next they are all grown up :(.
Enjoy the time you still have them.

I've come to appreciate my dd more in the past 3 days than I have in her entire life!

Why? Because we have my SIL 2 daughters for the next 2 months. She had a DUI and is serving her sentence. The oldest is 14 and thinks because we are over 30 we aren't very bright.

Tried to pull a fast one and stay after school for a fictitious activity...BUSTED!

That's why I wasn't around yesterday. It's early days yet...Gotta go!
