We have started a family fun night some times it is movies (rented or borrowed) sometimes it is Family Game Night.

Family Game night for us is a board game or card game (no gaming systems or computer games allowed) Old fashioned sit at the kitchen table play and chat. The kids are loving it, Hubby and I as well.

What are some of your favorites? I'm looking for fun games to try.

We have played Life, Monopoly, Blinks, and War - a card game with regular playing cards.
That is all I can think of right now.

Our kids like Carcassonne and Puerto Rico. Dh has pre-ordered another game he thinks the kids will like: Leaping Lemmings.

Dh will play war games with the older boys like Advanced Squad Leader, War of the Roses, D Day, etc.

Phase 10 & Scrabble are my favorite games. Fun times!

I forgot to list scrabble

Buddy asked for it for Christmas and I was surprised on how many words Little Miss could come up with and spell. I think she even had more points then I did at the end of the game.

We also like the scrabble card game Scrabble slam

It's a card game. In college DH, his frat brothers and I spent all of our spare time playing it. We would have two and three day long marathons. Instead of majoring in Sociology and International Business, I should have just majored in Pinochle. :)

I am not a fan of Wikipedia, but it has about the best explanation of it I could find. I think we have about 9 different versions of Memory. He loves it.

They have made a lot of changes to Candyland. It made me sad when I saw his version of the board game.

Scrabble, Canasta (cards), yahtzee, Operation, Sorry, Trouble. I love board games and cards too. My youngest daughter has game night with her boys. I make it a point to add a new game every year at Christmas for them.

My mom generally gets the children each a new board game for Christmas. Then we play them later in the day.

It is a fun Christmas tradition

My children played with my childhood copy of Candyland.

What kind of changes did they make?
