I had to laugh when I read it because everything listed under the "keep for one year" my mom keeps for 30. Last I looked, she still had shoeboxes of receipts, cancelled checks, utility bills and whatnot from 1969.
When my parents bought the house I grew up in in 1972 ish, they had the property surveyed. About 15 years later, that guy who did the work came out of the woodwork saying my parents never paid him. My mom being the one she is, went into her shoebox labeled 1972 and found the cancelled check AND the receipt he gave her 15 years before and told him where to shove both. What are the chances of someone coming after you after so long? I guess he chose the wrong person to accuse of not paying. LOL
