I just found out my cuz is having a girl so I'm going to box everything up to give to them. I'll count it once it's boxed cause I won't see her til her shower

I desperately want to fling things, but I don't have anything to fling! BIL moved in this weekend, and he brought a ton of stuff. I'm not counting it against us, because I'm not allowed to fling it! Maybe I'll go through the clothes drawers again...

Well, you can fling behind his back. ;) Any of his clothes you aren't particularly fond of? :D

Don't worry, you've still got almost seven months of flinging ahead of you. :)

Hehe. I don't think he'd appreciate that very much. And he's actually quite clean, not cluttery at all. And, he's moving out in August. So I really can't complain about him :)

I do have some cooking magazines that are taking up space, and I could go through my bookshelves for books to take to 1/2 price books. We made a good chunk of change there last time, more than I was expecting! I've always been the kind of person who shops at used books stores and buys books because I WANT to read them...I hate giving away books, but some of mine are admittedly in bad shape, and I even have doubles of a few. I could easily fling a box of books!

Tossed four mags that I finally had the chance to go through. Found sixteen household items to add to my never-ending garage sale inventory, so those went out into the car. I am counting them as flings, because they will NOT be coming back into the house and, if I don't sell them in a couple of weeks, they will go to a thrift store.

I just swept up and tossed 29 rolly-pollys out of my kitchen. Seriously, my house is a graveyard for rolly pollys these days. Every day I see 3-4 (at least) new ones, venturing across my kitchen floor, toward their inevitable death. Every couple of days I sweep them all up (the ones I don't step on, pick up and throw away) and toss them. We really need to check the weather stripping and get the house sprayed for bugs. Seeing a lot of spiders, too

Anyway, I also flung a couple of bathroom items last night. I'm calling it 5 flings :)

I have been going through things today. I put up a stack of dishes (1) that had been on the kitchen floor in a wire basket. (This is why the "good" and "party" china went into the attic!) In the process of doing that, I decided to get rid of 2 other mugs. I have the flea market again Sunday and so far I have the elephant toy chest that didn't sell last week, 3 candle holders (culled from the house this week), the two mugs, and (of course) a bunch o' books. I need to get more stuff outta here!

I'm only adding 1 to my total today as I count things when they are actually GONE. I have 1,000s of extra things here that were bought to be sold or given away or belong to someone else, or.... Anyway, I'm working really hard at not counting things until they are actually not in my possession any more!

I've been found out! DH commented I wasn't treating this thread fairly. I haven't been adding things I've brought into the house. I maintain I've been purposely counting low when I fling things because, well, I don't want to do all the adding and subtracting...being basically lazy. Sigh...

So today I really have to subtract some stuff. A friend gave me a box of fabric. I'm keeping about 10 pieces of fabric (didn't bother to count) and am passing the rest on. Some nice fabric there.

I'm taking 10 off my total...

Peanut, you're a better flinger than I am. We all know I ignore the things that come into my house. :) I suppose if those are the rules you choose for yourself, then its good of you to stick to them -- but you know we won't be hard on you!

I have to subract one thing. I went garage sailing today and picked up a few things... all will be used for my craft booth (nice jars for bath salts) except I found a really cool small wooden chest that I am going to use for yarn supplies. :)

could use your input ladies...I have scanned the entire contents with the exception of a few papers that need to be signed, into my computer and stored all of it's contents on my external hard drive. I threw away all of the reciepts, past tax returns, important school documents, bank statement etc....well over a hundred documents...now..if it were up to me i would give myself 1000 flung, lol, for all that work but really I'm not sure what is reasonable...it's only paper, a lot of it, but only paper...what do you think is a fair total of points to add to my total?

Considering the effort you put into the fling, luckbethislady, I'd say at least 100 - 150. I'd give myself one per document. That's a lot of work just to get rid of a piece of paper! (Of course, if you bought the external hard drive for the purpose, you'll have to subtract THAT! :D)

thanks that's what I thought too...it's a lot of work...but..:)...I got the hard drive as a christmas gift last year and hadn't used it yet...I can't believe how much space all that paper took up...it kind of sneaks up on you :)

Well, that is a lot of work to do. I've been counting 1" thick of paper as one item, because that's the size of a decent sized book. Like I said, I'm severely underestimating my flinging. I think you just need to decide what feels right to you and count it that way.

peanut, I think it is cool that your DH is actually paying attention to how you are responding to this thread!! That is funny that he called you on it! I only count things that aren't going right back out again in the form of merchandise. Otherwise, I'd NEVER get ahead!!

luckbethislady, I would definitely steer toward a generous number, so estimate high on how much paper you tossed. Maybe you can count an extra half fling per page for the scanning efforts? :)

I think madhen had those rules from the beginning.
