We let ours go, I personally don't care for the rounded look but like the free-flowing natural look of forsythia. You hit on one of my pet peeves, lol, I actually can't stand to see a forsythia that is pruned into a ball :toothy:
The one next to the garage is pruned into a ball-it's at the corner of the garage so it needs shape, the one in the back yard is huge, out of control, about 8 feet high and at least that wide, 1/2 on my neighbors property 1/2 on ours, I hate it, dh cut part of it back this week because it is killing the grass under it. they tend to bloom better when they are cut back toward the end of the season before.
