I'm not doing that great today!
We went out to eat after church, which my mom usually pays for (thanks, Mom!) ;) But today she didn't offer to pay, so we ended up spending $17 :( Ugh!

However, we.....
~aren't turning on the A/C (just using fans as neccesary)
~aren't using the lights really (except in the bathroom, where there is no window for light)
~I'm using my "family cloth" instead of toilet paper
~I'm making dinner from stuff on hand tonight (probably baked poatoes.. and I'm so proud of me, I didn't cave and buy bacon bits last night at Sam's! I'm going to make my own tonight with one of the 3 packages we have in the freezers lol)

My day is pretty bland.
3 loaves of bread rising outside on this gorgeous day.
no lights
no ac
doors open for fresh air
bisquik made for a few months
still to do cornbread mix and pancake mix
getting ready to cook for the week, chicken or turkey dishes
hot water heater not on. dh installing timer
dh cleaned carb on his truck instead of taking it to shop
fixed pancakes last night and had enough for breakfast so no electric used except 40 seconds in microwave
made lemonade instead of brewing tea no electric used
made milk instead of buying it

told ya it was a bland day but a fruitful one.

- borrowed a chainsaw from a neighbor and spent the weekend trimming trees and cutting down a few. We have a wooded lot and we want to have a garden, so we need to cut down some.
- saving all wood for the woodpile, we love fires in the winter
- hung a load of laundry
- washed ziploc baggies
- dh had to order a transcript, it was supposed to be $15, but when he got to check out, it waved the fee
- no AC or heat
- only drove to church today
- ds is officially potty trained! don't ask me how long it took. I have 2 packs of pullups to return to walmart this week.
- breakfast for dinner tonight
- made my menu for the week based on what I have on hand - it was hard as I am out of all cheeses. Even though i try to avoid dairy in our dinners (dd is allergic) I was shocked at how many meals we use it for.
- wrote a hub on saving money while on vacation
- using cell phone for long distance

I have one to add! Made homemade granola bars after DH said he wanted to go buy some to snack on while he's out of town at a conference for 2 days :)

Sunday, April 22nd..

*Did not buy coffee or snacks at church
*Ate out for lunch and ordered DS some mashed sweet potatoes, he wasn't really that hungry so I saved them and brought them home.
*Took a walk in the evening for exercise and entertainment
*Stopped at Dunkin Doughnuts on our walk, but used a GC so no money spent
*Saved and washed some baby food containers to put HM baby food in
*Used samples of shampoo, conditioner, and face soap
*Cooked dinner ($1.37 per person plus a plate of leftovers)
*DS had leftovers for dinner

..and while I've kinda fallen off the frugal wagon lately, here are some things I did this weekend (Fri and Sat) that I wanted to add, and am too lazy to post in last week's thread..

*Bought a high chair at a yard sale for DS - bargained from $25 down to $20 - cheaper than the $100 they go for in Babies R Us
*Bought a "suit" for my son for a wedding we're going to, but shopped around and found one in clearance for $13
*Moved $700 over into our ING fund
*DH and I had been discussing canceling or revising our cell phones - we ended up going with an option that will cut our bill from $100/month to $70/month and we each get a new phone for free.
*Cashed in some points from a survey site that is going out of business for a $5 Starbucks GC

Nothing earth shattering here really but here's my frugal doings for Sunday:

- Saved a piece of foil to reuse

- Drank only water

- Stayed home/no spend day

Love,

Jennelle

I just realized something ... just had the thought that I want or have it in my mind to purposely do something frugal so I'll have something to post here.

Not that I wouldn't try to do something frugal anyways but this is such a great incentive! :)

I'm trying to get back into the habit of being frugal

So far I've:
*Kept the ac off- just have the windows and a few fans on to ventilate
*swept the floor with a brrom instead of getting out the vacuum
*hung clothes out to dry
*Ran the dishwasher, but didn't use the drying setting (I'll do it myself)
*combine erronds to save on gas
*make homemade pretzels and bread
*lights always off during hte day
*unplug anything not being used
*drink lots of water

Here's for the last few days...

Saturday
-My mom was having a yard sale, I brought some stuff and made $34 (not bad, since it wasn't much). Also, she had something I needed (a craft table) and I had something she needed (a framed print that I love but have no place for), so we just traded. Plus she bought my son some cute clothes from a sale the other day and included them in the trade. Sweet!
-Didn't run the dishwasher (I usually run it daily)
-Made a loaf of bread, ate this with some veggies for dinner while DH had leftovers

Sunday
-Clipped coupons and reviewed sale ads, made grocery list including sale items
-Bathed son but didn't wash his hair, as it was washed Sat....saved shampoo
-Been cutting baby wipes in half since last week, they work well
-Made homemade pizza for dinner, crust from scratch, and used pepperoni cut into quarters and purchased with a coupon. Used the little bit of extra crust to make a mini cinna-bread. (It tastes just like Domino's to me!) I used this as my and my son's dessert/snack last night, and have a little left to use as my snack tonight.
-Listed 10 lots of baby clothes on ebay, one ended with buy it now (yay) and is already paid for. (I do wish I'd waited a day, it would have saved me $2 if I had since today is .20 listing day! Oops!)

Monday
-Went to Target, got a booster seat I had to have for my older son, and did a bit of grocery shopping (see sig, I'm way over for the month, so I'm trying to only buy sale items). Got 5 free trial size cans of shaving gel and 1 free trial size toothpaste. Also got great deal on thin sliced ham (2.39 - .50 store coupon for 1.89 total, usually I pay 2.99 at Wal-Mart and don't get coupons). Having some of this ham for dinner tonight in a stromboli.
- Returned formula that didn't sit well with my son (bought 4 because I had buy one get one coupons, and the manager was nice and gave me my money back on the 2 I paid for even though I'd opened one)
-Went to Walgreens and saved .30 each on two gallons of milk, plus stocked up on my DH's diet drinks for $2 a 12-pack (rare sale). Got some mascara for .50 a tube combining sale with coupons.
-Resisted the urge to buy junk food (trying to lose weight)
-Planning on listing a few things on ebay tonight to take advantage of the 20-cent listing special today
