Here's to another frugal week!

My goals for this week:

1. Work better on keeping everything I'm not using unplugged.
2. Buy an indoor clothes dryer/wooden hanging rack for my basement.
3. Pay off the property tax bill by the end of the week!
4. Get DH off his butt and get the reimbursement taken care of so I can take DS to the dentist on Friday.
5. Avoid buying any snack foods this week and make all the desserts (probably apple pie and apple crisp since I got 8 cups of frozen apples from MIL).
6. Take inventory of my stockpile and see what I really need the most.
7. Make a new list of items I buy every week at Superstore and compare them to Safeway.

Sunday:
*stayed home all day / no spend
*a/c only on in late afternoon (the afternoon sun heats the house up something awful, even with the blinds and curtains closes, plus that's when I'm cooking dinner as well)
*cut coupons and browsed grocery ads
*lights/tvs off during the day

Monday:
*staying home / no spend
*laundry in cold / hung to dry
*cleaned out refrigerator of all leftovers (we ate for lunch)
*writing out grocery list for tomorrow's trip

Okay, my goals for the week:
1. Shorten my showers. I tend to take long ones when I don't feel so good, which has been a daily thing lately.
2. Call the Gas Co. and have them check for a leak because my bill was $60 and the only thing that uses gas is the stove/oven, and I don't use it very often!
3. Make sure to make leftovers into lunch for DH and also make sure he actually takes them to work!!! No more $6 here and there for Del Taco.
4. Fill up the cooler for our trip to my cousin's wedding so we don't eat out. Try to make the trip as cheap as possible!
5. Lights off in the house unless absolutely needed. Use the daylight as much as possible, and at night just have one lamp on.
6. Even though it's hot, try to cross ventilate with the fans instead of using the AC.
7. Declutter as much as possible.

Monday:
*AC on 80
*Windows open for light so no lights on until dark
*Ate lunch at home
*PAID OFF ONE CAR!!! This may not be frugal because I actually used money to buy something but it was our stimulus check and now we're down to one car payment and a student loan payment--it's all the debt we have!
*Paid bills early so no late fees
*Wash two loads of laundry in cold--hang to dry
*Eat at home tonight!
*Library books or borrowed movies for entertainment
*Walk for exercise and entertainment

Things aren't going very frugally these days. Dh did combine errands today and dropped off library books while he was out. i did get some good specials at the grocery store today and drove the car that gets better gas mileage. I wrote an article on the benefits of Craigslist. Other than that not much. I need to do way better tomorrow!

I started to post this last night, but was struck by the beauty of the passing thunderstorm.

So to recap - Sunday through now (noon Tuesday)

*Took lunch and coffee to work both days
*Ate dinner at home Monday.
*Sunday we went out to eat, but ate a little beforehand and only got an appetizer and ice cream
*My sister got me a food dehydrator
*Paid off my student loans. In full. Goodbye!
*Finally got our stimulus check. It's going in the bank today.
*Referred a friend to ING. I'll get $10 if she signs up with a $250 initial deposit, and she'll get $25. Yes, she asked me to refer her.
*Drinking mostly water
*A/C off most of Sunday and on Monday
*Grabbed the coupons out of the Sunday paper we get at work (they get thrown away anyways)
*Got our electric bill - another good month for us (used 603 kwh - we average around 800 kwh)
*Got a product test in the mail
*Used a free sample wipe to clean the bathroom

My frugal goals for this week:

1) Prevent public library fees (I started borrowing more books and movies to save money - and I've already been dinged 25 cents three times this month!)

2) Return items I bought a couple months ago and didn't need to the store, and put the money into my "extra savings account". It's where all my change, bottle depot money, found money ect. goes.

3) Make lunches and suppers all week - "only I can prevent eating out" (kind of like "only I can prevent forest fires...") Ha :)

4) Get leaky tap fixed

5) Make a soup for lunches from the skinny chicken carcass we had for dinner (those store bought roast chickens keep getting smaller and smaller, at least it was on sale...)

6) Reuse all our tea-bags twice for tea
