This month is going to be crazy for us with all the trips we have to make. I need to watch those pennies even more.

~lights off when not in use
~blinds opened to let in the light
~turn off Christmas tree lights at 9 p.m. rather than later
~getting our dvd's from the library rather than renting them
~we were given more deer meat, so no buying meat this month except for our Christmas turkey when it's on sale
~staying out of stores when we are in the city

I've gotten my stockpiles back up to the level I like them to be, so no grocery buying the rest of this month except fruit, milk, bread and eggs as we run out.

Wearing layers so we can keep use of heat to a minimum.

Being vigilent about only using as much light as is actually needed and turning lights off when leaving the room.

~ all meals at home
~ clean out closets & toy boxes :)
~ hang laundry to dry (mine has to go in the basement since we aren't 'allowed' to have a clothesline in the yard :(
~ start packing for California - only 13 days to go :):):)

Well today is pretty much a no spend day. Only bought a paper. Otherwise just sitting at home having leftovers from last nights party. May have made money today by selling our extra vehicle. (yeah).

This weekend I

- washed some ziploc baggies
- combined errands
- made scratch cookies for our desserts
- dinner from scratch
- heat at 65
- worked on homemade gifts for xmas
- finished the baby quilt for my sister in law
- going to a free concert tonight at the library, it should even count for school
- bought the 2 giftcards I needed for xmas at the grocery store and earned $.20 off per gallon of gas by doing so
- dh and the kids built a castle in the basement with boxes from our move - it is very cool and it should provide some hours of entertainment over the next few weeks
- had a fire to help warm up the house
- got 2 packages of free cat treats at the store today, I will throw them in with my brother's xmas present as he has 2 cats that are his babies
- figured out the budget and transferred $200 to the EF

This week We plan to:

1. Keep heat turn down at night and when no one is home.
It is down right cold out there tonight (9degrees)
2. Take lunches to work all week.
3. Keep at least 3 no drive days.
4. Looking to buy a clothes hanger to dry clothes down stairs.
5. Cook at home 6 days this week.

I had dropped out of challenges -- too much chaos in my life -- but I need to get back to work. So today:

Gocery shopping -- b1g1f half pork loin, made it a great deal
Defrosted the chest freezer for more efficiency
Finally got the aquarium heaters adjusted properly so I can drop overnight heating more without freezing the poor fishies
Went to JoAnn's for one cut of black cotton, and only bought one more piece while I was there -- phenomenally successful since fabric is my addiction! both were on sale.
Ate leftover beans -- how cheap is that!

12/3:
-did a total cleaning of upstairs playroom and each kids room. Took toys they no longer wanted to Goodwill along with 2 bags of clothing. Ended up with about 6 bags of trash. Some of that was my fault. I cleaned off my bookcase that had lots of junk on it from college and when I used to work.
-breakfast and dinner at home...stopped to pick up Burger King on the way back from Goodwill. I was in such a good rhythm of cleaning I didn't want to stop to cook lunch.
12/4:
-cooked breakfast for kids and DH before I sent them off
-baked cookies while cooking breakfast (snacks for lunch boxes this week)
-planned dinner for the next three nights and took deer roast out of freezer to defrost for tomorrow night
-DH gets 20% off of already reduced prices on certain merchandise at Lowe's starting tomorrow (he works there PT). Going to go in today to make a list of things we are interested in for home improvements and check on line to see what is the best deal.
-will combine errands...trip to Lowe's, Goodwill and grocery store at same time. With gas prices steadily increasing in the past few weeks, I can't justify the 20-30 minute drive to Aldi's. I'll stick to the local Food Lion or Wal-Mart.

Good day! I remembered an Office Depot coupon that was about to expire -- $10 off a $25 purchase. So while I was out I went by and stockpiled cheap copy paper for my editing job. Will I be glad I have that down the road!

Monday, Dec. 4th...

*All meals at home
*No driving day
*Lunch was leftovers, and for dinner I made turkey a la king. I threw in half a can of cream of mushroom soup that was just sitting in the fridge to use it up.
*Did four loads of laundry using only detergent samples and dryer sheets cut in half
*Placed an order on Amazon and used $75 in Gift Certificates I earned from survey sites. I will have a nice bathroom scale AND two HUGE Tommy Hilfiger towels delivered to my door for $4.97!!!
*Did not go out to Kaleidescope Pottery during their outlet sale. This is my pattern and it is very expensive (like, $30 per plate) and they sell seconds once a year in December (where it's only $15 per plate or so). I usually pick up a few pieces each year, but with me being unemployed I figured I'd pass this year.
*Used my cellphone to make a LD call
*Counted all the change in my piggybank and added it to our coke bottle change tower ($57.75)
