Although, I am sure this type of thing
did happen in the past; but as often? Back then we had 3 channels, 5 if we were lucky! after moving the antenna.... (by golly I feel OLD).
Along with the birth of technology came 24 hour news channels which I believe became hard for the "uppitites' whoever they might be to control the output of what is being reported, now a days it happens, someone texts, calls someone and the news is there immediately. There really is no time to quash it before it is reported.
But you have to wonder if the break down of the family unit has contributed somewhat to how society has turned out. Everyone is so focused on what we have, want, "need", not many people/families are focused on today and our immediate family needs (true needs), personal connection. The family today almost runs like a business, fast, rush rush, do the task so it will be done......(even if it is just dinner!).
I am rambling......technology has brought a lot to our lives, and I would not want to live without it

, but sometimes I wonder at what price...... Next time you are out to eat or at a family gathering, etc.... look around at how many of the people (including adults) can not put down the cell, ipod.... it is amazing..... and it is my personal feeling that we have not even hit the tip of the iceberg with "desensitized" humans....
