Gabe & Sarah,
About a week ago two threads were removed by you guys. When questioned about it, you both stated "Racism will not be tolerated"

Gabe, then you mentioned that you could recommend in the future to PM any questions about removed threads to either of you two.

I did that, and I got no response. So, here I am in the open forum asking my question again. I am not trying to be difficult or a PITA. I have an honest, serious question that I would like answered.

In the thread about the election, somone implied that I was a racist because I supported Sarah Palin, but I didn't support a black man as President. I defended myself saying I didn't agree with Obama's politics and it had nothing to do with his skin color and then POOF, the thread was gone.

Then, the affirmative action thread came up and I tried to make the argument that I didn't believe a person's skin color or ethnicity status was an accurate indicator to whether or not they needed additional help to "level the playing field". Again, I was accused of being racist and I defended myself and POOF that thread was gone also.

So, my question is this: is it the accusations of racism that caused the threads to be deleted or was it actual racism? If its racism, I'd like to know what, exactly, I said to make you (and others) believe that I'm racist. Because I'm not. I'm I'm being perceived as a racist, I need to reevaluate my arguements and my stands on certain issues to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future.

Again, I tried to PM both of you this question, but it went unanswered. Thank You.

I think it is racist to assume that who you did not vote for has anything to do with skin color.

I never got the chance to read that thread, and wish I could have, because I would have said that.

Everyone with half a brain knows you aren't racist, Janauk.

I only have 3/4 of a brain. :D Actually, I didn't read either thread so I may be wrong, but I would think that just the fact that someone accused another of being racist and the posts were heading in that direction may be why they removed the thread.

In both threads the way you demonstrated your points were racist. In both threads multiple people pointed out they thought you were being racist, too.

You can say you're not and I can hope you're not, but you come across as being very much so in the way you attempt to demonstrate your points. I refuse to give a platform for it whether you or anyone else intentionally do it or not.

So again I'll repeat as I said before, we won't tolerate racism. That was my reply to you.

I don't like deleting threads. Both had very good discussions going and in the future I will merely delete the posts that are an issue and not the entire thread.

I thought by the way you said you were leaving, that you knew it was you. How many people have told you and you still haven't a clue? Come on now.

At any rate, my inlaws were here for the week from Quebec, so I wasn't online as often as usual and your question wasn't a priority in the overall scheme of things.

I'll ask that when demonstrating your points to try and refrain from sharing stories that are half true and then creating a second half that's racist and based on speculation. You are all over others that don't debate facts. Hold yourself to the same standard.

Poin taken and I can conced to the above post for the affirmative action thread. I didn't think out my arguments as well as I usually do.

However, I'm still puzzled as to how I came across as a racist in the election thread?

Someone pointed out that "I can't understand how you can support a woman for VP but you are all "up in arms" over a black man being President."

I pointed out that I simply didn't agree with Obama's politics and that's why I didn't support him for President. I also pointed out that throughout the entire election (not just here, but the media as well) it was the liberals that were the first to throw out "race" when someone spoke out against Obama and that the conservatives rarely brought it up.

I stated I didn't like being accused of being a racist simply because I didn't support him. Gabe then asked me who accused me of being a racist and I quoted the original poster. Then the thread went POOF.

In all honesty, how does this make me racist?

I said I was leaving the affirmative action thread becuase it detiorated into calling Jessica an arsehole, I didn't admit that it was me. I said I was enjoying debating with AmyBoz, but everyone else started jumping all over me. I tried to defend myself, but then things went POOF.

I understand that you had family in town, but Gabe personally invited anyone with a question to PM you guys ~ and I did.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
