Gluten Free Baked Apples
Recipe Description
Baked apples with a gluten free twist. Cinnamon can be reduced to taste. For a kick, add nutmeg and ground ginger to taste.
Preparation Steps:Wash and dry apples. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Time Needed:30 -45 minutes
Ingredients:4 large apples
1/2 cup gluten free granola
1/4 cup nutty flax cereal
2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of ground ginger (optional)
pinch of ground nutmeg (optional)
1 tbsp margarine melted
1.5 tbsp margarine softened
1/4 cup of brown sugar
3 tbsp white sugar
1/2 cup water
Serves:1/2 cup gluten free granola
1/4 cup nutty flax cereal

1.5 tbsp margarine softened
1/4 cup of brown sugar
3 tbsp white sugar
1/2 cup water
Directions:Core apples and if necessary, trim bottoms so that they sit flat in a square glass baking dish.
In a bowl, mix granola cereal, nutty flax, brown sugar and spices. Add melted butter and mix well.
Brush the skin of the apples with the softened butter. Put the white sugar on a plate and roll the buttered apples to coat.
Place apples in the baking dish. Fill each core with the cereal mixture.
Top each filled core with a bit of margarine.
Fill the bottom of the pan with a 1/2 cup of water.
bake at 375 for 30 -45 minutes until the apples are soft. (baking time depends on the size and type of the apples)
