I have already bought my seeds and would rather grow chives on my kitchen window sill but, would like some advice on growing it inside and would like to hear which is better indoors or out??Just need some guidance because this will be my first go`round with herbs.We would love to have fresh chives for our potatoes so I am really needing some advice from experience.TIA!:)

I wish I could help you, Susie, but my chives are outside. I know my neigbour used to take her chives inside in auntumn before the freeze, so I guess it does grow easily...Good luck! :)

Lucie,

Do you have them in your garden or a container outside??I have the room and since I haven`t raised any herbs I would like to get an idea on the best way.TIA:)

I've only grown them outdoors and I bet they are just as hardy grown indoors. I love 'em as they grow & grow as you snip them. They are great in & on just about anything.
Outdoors I grow most of my herbs in whiskey barrels that are placed in the sun by the front door for easy harvesting.:)

I have them in the garden and they have grown and grown and expanded from year to year. Last year, I put some chives in a wooden container and it wasn't a sucess. Maybe it's because I didn't water them enough..I'm not sure, but in the ground, mine were better. I hope that helps, but let me tell you, I'm no expert in gardening... :)
