* Costco is now selling there boxes of mangos with 7 to a box instead of 9
* I paid $12 :thud: for a bag of apples (my sweet boy loves apples, seriously they may be his favorite food)
* I am noticing lower limits on in ad coupon items. This week Fred Meyer has nabisco crackers 3 for $5 limit 3 (used to be limit 6). Tillamook butter $2 (limit 2). Will have to take DD with me :)

The limits here have gotten worse too. And "sale" prices just aren't that much of a sale anymore.

I miss Fred Meyer.

Also, store brands and generics are going up too.

You can thank TLC - Extreme Couponing for the limits. We have limits of 2. Family of 6 here, 2 doesn't cut it..lol

Oh well, in some ways it's good, it means I can actually get in on some of the deals out there.

I need to go to a different grocery store this week. Can't get to the one I usually go to. Looked at the flyer and the prices just seemed so outrageous. Usually I buy whatever fruit might be on sale. But the prices they show are really high and are supposed to be on sale.

Will get just the basics and wait it out another two weeks. Thank goodness for the stockpile. Just want fresh produce while there is an abundance. Pretty soon winter will be around and I will miss all the fresh produce.

I was about to rip my hair out at the high prices of fruit this summer when a lady at church came to my rescue. She told me to try Sunflower Market but to only buy the one or two things featured largest in their add. I had never bothered trying that store because it is mostly organic and I had heard very pricey. Well that is true except for the one or two things featured! This week it was grapes at 77 cents a pound and cantalope melons 2 for a dollar. So this week that is what we'll be eating. I guess it can pay to check the specialty stores. I just never would have thought of that.

Brenna's mom, if you are near Yakima at all (or know someone who lives near there), you can buy 40ish lb boxes of apples for 2 for $15. Well, that was the price for them last year, I haven't gotten any from this season yet.

I'm noticing a lot of "less in the pkg. but with a higher price tag".

Also noticing at our local SaveALot that the meat they have each week 5 pkgs for $19.99 that the price per pound is so ridiculous you are getting very very little in the actual pkgs. I won't buy those anymore.

I bought no meat at all Friday when I got groceries. It was to expensive. I have some in my freezer so I'll try and hang in there until I can find something on sale.

the prices are ridiculous. My local store has put so many limits on coupons. That "show" has made it hard on everyone!

You have to go to one of the apple warehouses to get the boxes at the price. I think it starts with a "z" (zirkle, maybe). I rode with them once to pick up apples, but I get so turned around when I am up there that I get lost. Sorry that I can't tell you how to find the place.

This might be it (don't hold me to it though).

It might be worth a call to find out.

I noticed yesterday the number of sheets on a roll of charmin basic shrunk again. It wasn't that long ago a 'double' roll was 400 sheets, now with the latest reduction I think it was 268 (down from 302)
Do the manufacturers really think they are fooling us?

If you want to do some canning, go to a farmer's market and check things out. End of the selling day, you may be able to pick up some quanity bargains.
At the market where I set up yesterday, one of the venders had a lot of cucumbers. I was going to buy only 4 from her as she had them reduced to 4 for $ 1. We like fresh cucumbers :)
She asked me if I wanted to make some pickles. I said I probably should. Next thing I know she gifted me with half a bushel of cucumbers. So today's plan is to make some pickles and hopefully get some relish done. Also to pick some of my green tomatoes and make some homemade mincemeat. Busy day ahead for me :)

The jumps around this area seem to fall on a different time line than other areas. I'm not sure if that has to so with the fact that we have farms/producers that surround us or simply a very competative maket. I tend to think it has more to do with what is available closer to us so there is not as much of a shipping increase but that is just a guess. Chicken and milk prices haven't changed much at all. Cheese, coffee, and peanut butter ( a long standing staple here) seem to go up every week. There is never hardly what I would consider a sale on these items anymore. Pork has taken HUGE jumps in the last few months as well.

I wanted to chime in, yesterday I stopped by the grocery store for a loaf of frozen garlic bread that I lovvvvve.....used to be $2.00 flat, if not on sale. Now $3.38, ON SALE. Um. excuse me? I don't think so!! Grabbed one of their bakery loafs that used to be a dollar. Its $1.38. I don't know why I always paid $2 for the frozen but I am certainly not paying that much for it and was annoyed that the regular loaf went up .38. It wont kill my budget, it was just one of my favorite treats when I was sick of pasta I would grab a big loaf of bread to make it special.

I'll be making my own bread again, I had just slacked off. grumble.

I know what you mean, I usually buy Sara Lee Delightful whole wheat bread, no more, it is up to $3.58 a loaf. I went to ARC and found a bread machine for $2.50 and have started making my own again.

Also noticed that eggs went from $1.64 to $1.88 a dozen at wally world.
