Hi all! We bought a new camper this past spring to take our 3 kids camping all summer. Well, we went camping for a week over the
4th. On our way home, a not so wise person decided to flip a u-turn in the middle of the highway without looking to see if anyone was coming. My AMAZING hubby swerved to miss them by literally inches, but of course we proceeded to fish-tail down an extremely steep hill. The camper was bouncing from side to side desperately wanting to flip us over. We finally got it under control after about 250 feet. By the time we pulled over, the other car had driven off. The best news????? Our insurance is denying coverage saying that they have no record of us adding it to our policy. Ugh. And of course I have no way of proving it, because it's my word against theirs. Double ugh.
On a positive note, my husband, myself, and our 3 beautiful kids walked away from the accident without a scratch. The highway patrolman kept telling us how lucky we were to be alive. He kept saying my husband must be one heck of a driver to keep all that on the road. God bless my farm boy!!!
I told my hubby that I would gladly pay that $130 camper payment every month for the rest of my life knowing that my babies are okay! So, yes, it could be worse, we could be paying $500 on a totalled camper every month. Thanks for letting me vent. And if any of you out there do drive with pull trailers, please go out and buy the stabilization bar for your hitch. That's what saved our lives. It was expensive, and I yelled at my husband for buying it at the time, but I'm so glad for once he didn't back down to me!
Thanks for letting me rant!!!
