I just got a flyer that says our local police department and Citizens Against Family Violence will be offering a FREE self defense class on Saturday in June 7 (good timing for me). Has anyone ever taken one? The class will be from 9 - 1 and they have someone to watch your child while you are there. Who could ask for more? Seriously now, have you taken a class like this and what did you think of it? I am pretty sure I will be taking the class. I have no idea what to expect but I am game.

I've never taken one Pat, but what a great idea!
Hopefully you'll never need to use these tactics but the strength & knowledge you'll gain in learning how to defend yourself is immeasurable.

I have, I think it has saved my life more times than I can count.. It's not so much from having to use it, but from having the information I needed to stay in safe areas and how to carry myself....... I don't look like a victim !!!!!!!
EVERY woman should take them !!!!!!!!!

Yes me,my sister and my mom all took one........it was a few weeks long and it was great!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with learning how to carry myself and I have used it onceon my husbandit worked!The one we took is a life long membership type thing after you take it you can come in anytime for refreshers!!! Its called:R>A>D>Rape Aggression Defense Systems......its supposed to be offered by police stations across the US.......maybe someone elses state offers it too.......check into ladies!!! Sorry for rambling

Not yet, but I will have to see if our town offers one through the police dept. I think it is a good thing to know.

Yes, I took one and it was very empowering. It was very good to practice what to do.
