My DH is particular about his deodorant. Its sometimes hard to find, but I know Albertson's carries it. He is on his last stick and there are no sales this week.

I have 10 coupons for it that will expire on 7/31. I'm heading to Albertson's today for other things.....would you use all 10 coupons even though they aren't on sale? Would you let them expire and wait for a sale? I've been holding on to these coupons for months waiting for a sale.....I'm thinking his brand of deodorant just doesn't go on sale much.....

HELP!

I'd probably use the coupons, if you know he loves the deodorant and if it hardly ever goes on sale. I had to use a few of my coupons that were about to expire last night, only one of the three products was on sale. We use these items reguarly though and sales for them are hit or miss, it seems especially when you have coupons.

If the coupons are for a decent amount off I would use them. It would depend on where I am in my grocery budget whether I would use all of them or not. (Don't look at my grocery challenge this month. I blew it):lol3:

Deodorant is something you are (hopefully) going to use everyday for the rest of your life. I would go ahead and use the coupons. If some more coupons come out later and they match up with a sale you can always get more. If you don't use them, he may run out before you could get more coupons or before there is a good sale on it and then you would have to pay full price. I would be kicking myself if later on I had to pay full price for something when I could have gotten it cheaper and did not.

Did that make any sense?

I agree with everyone else. Use them. Don't loose them. That is like throwing money away!! Especially when it is something you use. (not like when it is not an item you have to have and the coupon expires. Then it is just a piece of paper)

Well, I would use 1 or 2 of them...but not 10. I know it seems like a waste, especially if you bought or traded specifically for those coupons. The sales and the coupons do roll around again. My hubby is picky about deodorant, too. I can't tell you how many I have gotten FREE and he wouldn't use them They were only for my ds or I have given them to my dad or brother, and I even sent some to my aunt who has 3 boys in college. I don't know your brand, but my hubby only likes gel and prefers Gillette, but will use one other brand and I can never remember which it is. Sales don't come around often when you are waiting for one specific brand; but I try to wait it out.

I get my papers here for 50 cents and we almost always get the good coupons...so I am not buying specific coupons. But, I never fret about expired coupons. My plan is to use what I can when they are on sale. I usually end up using way less than 50% of the coupons I acquire. But, it is still worth it to me because I spend $2 per week and save WAY more than that for weeks to come.

I'd use a few at least.....you'll have to judge how good a deal it is to decide how many to use....you know, what do you usually pay? that sort of thing

I agree with IntlMom. I'd use at least some of them, but consider how much the saving was before buying 10. Is a sale, when and if it happens likely to be for more than the coupons? Of course, nowadays, that's getting harder and harder to predict. Also I would take into account how fast he uses it up, to know how much to get to allow time for a sale to pop up, if you don't use them all.

I would use 2 coupons and waste the other 8 or try to trade them for something you need. I don't stock up unless I can get a good sale with coupon.
Everytime I don't wait it goes on sale for less than the amount saved with coupon the week before.

Thanks for all of your advice...

Albertson's only had five today, so that's how many I bought. The coupons were for .75/1 and Albertson's price was $2.99.

It is Right Guard Sport Deodorant (he likes Deo only, no antipersperant). He goes through them rather quickly since it is deo only he usually applies it more than once a day. The antipersperant makes his skin break out.

He will use Speed Stick or Old Spice as long as they are Deo only, but he prefers Right Guard.

What is HCW?

I almost had to laugh a little when I read that you bought 5 because I was going to suggest that number. I found out the hard way that deodorants kinda "turn" if I stock up TOO much.

I wanted to ask you though, do you have any Walgreens, CVS, or Dollar General's nearby? Because those brands you mentioned go on sale quite a bit at those stores. And DG has rebates lately, and CVS and Walgreens offer ECBs and RRs for a lot of their items.

Sometimes Walgreens offer a triple deal too! That means #1, the item is on sale, #2, there's a Walgreens coupon in their rebate booklet or weekly sales flyer, or both (I always pick up 6 of these, they're free of course), and #3, there's also a MFTR coupon that you can use on top of the store coupons.

But none-the-less, I think you did good considering you got them at Albie's. I know my Albie's regular store prices are sky high, so I was happy to hear the price was only $2.99. So good deal anyway! :applause:

Since he goes through so many, I would stock up and use your coupons. Plus doesn't he stay in at least one other place for part of the month? He could put some there too.

I once stocked up on deodorant, and it expired before I had a chance to use it all. Dave, however, goes through tons of deodorant. Partly because he goes to the gym daily but also because he's always seemed to go through it a lot.

And I kwym about pickiness with them...Dave will only wear Mitchum. At least his pickiness is justified because it seems to be the only brand that doesn't make his skin breakout. :dis:
