How much is your home insurance annually? Ours is $694 and that reflects a $99 discount this year. I found a thread from 2003 and even though it was out of date, the numbers ($350-$400) made me wonder about the amount we are paying.

Also, I was wondering how many of you have "Personal Liability" on your policy and for how much? We do and it is for $100,000. This is in case someone gets hurt over here and we are responsible financially. But is it just me or does this figure seem high? I don't know if it even makes much of a difference in the annual premium, but I am trying to be more aware of what we are paying out instead of just going along with whatever.

Thanks for your answers- looking forward to reading them! :)

$250,000 home, about the same insurance price - maybe a bit less. Same liability. $1,000 deductible.

No, $100,000 liability is not high. One slip in a snowstorm and you're looking at possible lawsuit city, and $100k may not be enough.

On our home, we risk it. On our rental, we have a $2M umbrella policy beyond the landlord policy.

I discovered that $100,000 was the lowest amount for the personal liability. (Luckily we don't get snowstorms in So Cal ;)) I'm keeping it, but can't lower it.

I raised my deductible to $2K.
