I do somewhere in the vicinity of 100lbs of apples picked from my neighbor's trees each year. I don't put anything other than a little bit of water in if it's too thick, and will then add the spices or other flavors later on if desired.

I like Apple sauce but since i don't can anymore i buy the unsweetened.Very seldome buy an apple pie any more that i like because most have corn syrup in them.

We do make our own and can our own apple sauce from mostly foraged apples.

It's extremely easy to make and YOU know whats in it and how its made.

I have made it in the past, but DH doesn't like it, so I don't even buy it much any more. It's not really economical unless you are getting a lot of 'free' apples off your own trees or buying them by the bushel.
