Does your family love applesauce as much as mine? Consider making it yourself! It’s not as hard as you might think. Plus you’ll eliminate all that nasty high fructose corn syrup that’s in some store brands.
I do somewhere in the vicinity of 100lbs of apples picked from my neighbor's trees each year. I don't put anything other than a little bit of water in if it's too thick, and will then add the spices or other flavors later on if desired.
I have made it in the past, but DH doesn't like it, so I don't even buy it much any more. It's not really economical unless you are getting a lot of 'free' apples off your own trees or buying them by the bushel.
