Poor Lisa - but now you are so clean and fresh. LOL The visual images I have in my head from reading this are just too funny. Is it safe to say that the days of homemade detergent are over?

If there wasn't anyone around, I'd have just stripped and thrown the gown in the washer...

You had me rolling!

afterwards it occurs to me, I've just had my dirty mouth washed out with soap for the first time that I can ever remember!
ROFL.... That's one way to look at it! :) I certainly would have had trouble with my mouth. (one of my weaknesses as well)

Let us know how the powder detergent comes out. ;)

hugs!

Laundry Soap Recipe

I made this up and I love it.I used Lavender essential oil. It is better than any I have had from the store.

Laundry Powder

16 cups baking soda
12 Cups Borax
4 bars of Castile Soap (grated)
3 TBSP Essential Oil (optional)

Combine all ingredients, and use 1-2 TBSP per load.

Note: I made my first batch by dividing this down by a fourth, That way I could see if I liked it.
This might be a good idea to do the first time or if you don't do a lot of wash.

This is the cost break down for 1- 1/4 batch
Baking Soda (Dollar General) 2 boxes $1.00
Borax (Wal-Mart-box 2.67) apx: $.75
Castile soap ( Local store) $.89
Essential Oil $.50
Total $3.14 (this made almost a 2L pitcher full)

Ooh, I'll have to try this. I would probably use scented Dr. Bronner's bar soap to cut down on the cost of the essential oil. They make all sorts of scents.
