Hubby and I have *zip, zilch, nadda* experience with wood stoves. Our local TSC has some small ones for sale right now at good prices. How hard are they to install?

Do some online research. YouTube might have some good how-to's.

First you'll need a chimney rated for wood fires. That would probably be the biggest expense and the most work, if the house has never had a woodburner before.

There's bound to be some building code you have to follow. Plus you need proper clearance and proper fire/heat barriers (under and behind). You may want to check with your house insurance to see what they require. The skill level may not be high end, but not following code/ins regs could create problems. If you are putting stove pipe through the roof, you may want to have professional help.

This is one of those things where if you don't get it right you can burn your house down, and assuming you survive, you could well void your home insurance. Get a professional to install it and your insurance company to inspect it.
