I am thinking that it might be nice for Bob's family and for the kids for our family  to just always celebrate Thanksgiving the night before - on wednesday - and then they can always be with their extended family on Actually Thanksgiving day - cuz I know its very important to Bob's mom - what do you think - at first I was worried that it might discount her Thanksgiving celebrtion by hving it beforehand at home but now I am kindof thinking if we just did ours the night before then the kids could always have their whole family celebrate the holidays with them - rather than this year with Bob - Next year with me. Christmas is this way - I do Christmas Eve and Bob does Christmas Day - before I presented this idea to the kids I wanted some feedback on whether it was a stoopid idea or not....

Kimmie, my ds is in the same situation only she has her Thanksgiving over the weekend with all the kids. She has 6 kids, 3 are hers 3 are his. Her three will be with our family this year, but his three are promised to their mother. Wanting to have all her family for dinner she will have it another day over the weekend. All the kids are in favor of it, rather than skipping Thanksgiving with each other all together. How do think your kids will feel about it? It's their holiday too. I would see what they thought about it before making any commitments. Stoopid I don't think so, kind, considerate and unselfish yes, stoopid no.

I would probably opt for the Saturday or Sunday before, instead of the night before. Just my 2 cents.:)
Yeah, I like your idea kimmee, but I like this one better--only because it's more of a "break" in between.

Could you ask Bruce's mother what she thinks of you doing that? And explain to her that you're not trying to discount her celebration?

It's such a hard thing around the holidays to get everyone together and do it without hurt feelings! Good luck :)
