I love this time of year because I really get into doing my puzzles. My diningroom table is covered with a puzzle now & will probably have works in progress all the way to Spring.

Love getting new ones to do and was lucky enough to get 4 for Christmas. After Christmas I saw a big box that had 10 puzzles in it at Walmart $13.88) so had to have those and used a gift card to get them. They are all in individual bags, not fancy but the quality & pictures are fine. I try to keep my eyes open for sales or people not wanting theirs anymore, the price of new puzzles is crazy, especially if you have to factor in shipping.
I could go on & on,lol.

I've got ADHD too and so it does take me awhile to do a puzzle [can't sit still that long] but still as you said, it's calming or at least it is till there's that one piece ya can't find. *lol*

A kitty conspiracy, huh? Too funny! *lol*

I have ten Thomas Kinkade puzzles in a box I ordered from Lakeside Collection. I love puzzles of snow scenes.
I also enjoy doing jigsaws online.

I've only done one Thomas Kinkade one so far but do want to get more.

Both my sister and my daughter love them so most likely that's what they'll be getting for Christmas.

Anyone working on an puzzles at the present time?

I'm working on a 500 piece winter scene that's really pretty.

Have had it out for nearly 2 weeks but have only been working on it a short bit at a time and not every day.

If things would only slow down so I could!

What are you working on? We've got a 1000 piece puzzle called Chickadee in Holly going. Jigsaw Puzzle 1000p "Chickadee in Holly" on eBay (end time 31-Jan-11 07:09:35 GMT) It's a bit of a challenge.
I see some of the links I posted a couple years ago aren't good anymore, guess we need to keep this kith hopping to kepp up to date.

Hey, thanks for reviving this old thread. I work jigsaws in spurts, but maybe this will inspire me to do it more consistently. I have a table now I could leave on out on - if I can find a permanent place for the table, that is!

Both were 1000 pieces. The dinosaurs were fun. The garden puzzle was a surprise. I thought it looked really easy, and it turned out to be harder than I expected. I'm still not sure why.

I have a BIG backlog of puzzles I've collected over the last few years. I really should dig in and work them. I love doing them.

I looked back and saw I posted in Jan 2008 that the next puzzle on my list was the tiger in the lotus pond. That's embarrassing. It's still on my list - LOL. It just look really intimidating and I always bypass it. Someday.

Talking about puzzles in the other thread made me remember this one and its the perfect place for us to talk about our puzzles.
The ones you did over Christmas look so nice & lucky you to have a back log. The first one with all the different colored shading looks like it's what probably made it harder than you first thought.
We work our puzzle on our dining room table which doesn't see much dining. It's an older table that the leaves pull out of to make it bigger. If we want to use it for something else I just put the table pad on top of my puzzle and it stays put together pretty nicely.

Yeah, a backlog, but it's cost me more than I would probably ever confess on a frugal forum. But I work them over and over, and I don't need to buy any more for a very long time. So I'll think of them as an "investment."

I bought one in the fall that I want to work, but it's another intimidating one. It's a celestial map, and those are always hard. I had one many years ago that was, no contest, the hardest thing I have ever done. It came with a book of information about the stars, and I had to use it to research the stars to get it done at all. Many were identified by their scientific names (numbers) on the puzzle and with the booklet I could eventually find them at at least figure out approximately where they might go. This one doesn't look nearly as hard as that one though.

How did I miss this kith? Glad you got it going again Darlene. I had to open up the Clown School puzzles and feel it. If I'm MIA the next few days you'll know why.

Oh, I do that too! Even when I know I'm not going to work it for a long time, I have to open it. Just to see. And touch.

Now though, I have an excuse. I have no room to store them in boxes, so I put them in labeled zipper plastic bags and cut the pictures off the boxes. It all stores much more compactly. If I didn't, between puzzles and my yarn stash, I would have to move the bed out onto the patio.

I love jigsaw puzzles! When I was young, my dad always had one going on a big piece of cardboard, because we didn't have a table big enough!

I have a whole stack to do--I bought them when DH was in Afghanistan. I thought the kids would like to do them with me, so they're all pictures of animals. Mostly 1000 pieces. DD enjoyed doing them, DS not so much.
We would do them on the dining room table, but about a year ago, my sister bought a dining set at a thrift store, and gave me the table, since she only wanted the chairs. It's a large butcher block table, and it now sits in my bedroom (my bedroom is huge), under the window. Now that's where I do all my puzzles.

The table is empty right now, I finished one before Christmas, and we needed the table for our New Year's Day dinner. Now that everyone is back to school and work, I can start something new!

I'm probably get my puzzle table situated better tomorrow. Then I think I'll do a couple of smaller 500 piece puzzles I have:

The Vintage Flora is one of my new ones from the fall. It sparked the whole order - I saw, I had to have.

I love puzzles with lots of little interior pictures. I have a lot of the big White Mountain puzzles that are bordered with boxes. One of my favorite of those their Trees of North America puzzle - all over boxes! It was a lot of fun to work. (That's a weird looking link, but I clicked on it and it went to the right place.)

Did anyone else get the email from SeriousPuzzles for 25% off Sunsout puzzles? I was soooooo tempted but I was a good girl and deleted it without looking. I haven't emptied the trash can yet though.:shhh:

I have a zero puzzle budget for this year. I got a Bits and Pieces catalogue yesterday. It's going in the trash. It used to be a favorite company, but not any more.

Several years ago - I think it was - the company changed hands. I had just done a big puzzle order, around $79 if I recall. The puzzles came, nothing appeared on the CC. I tried to call, many times, but the phone was not working. I e-mailed repeatedly, and got no response. I did my conscientious best to pay for those puzzles, but there was no one to give any money too. So I got a bunch of free puzzles. Thanks, guys.

What they are making now doesn't appeal to me as much and they seem very expensive. I did get one from them in the fall though, at least I'm pretty sure it was from them - tiny Japanese ladies on a boat on a lotus pond. Or perhaps it's Japanese ladies on a boat amid gigantic mutant lotus blossoms. I think of them as "Japanese fairies." I have no idea what it's all about, but I really liked it anyway it was so different. At the same time I picked up a couple of really cheap close out puzzles, to make the shipping worthwhile. Ok, but nothing to be terribly excited about.

I love doing jigzaw puzzles. My mom does them frequently and we always work on one together when I visit. It's a great activity for us because then she's concentrating too hard to pick on me.

I haven't done one at home by myself for many years, but I think I will get one out, because of this thread. I only have 2, and both are sort of boring.

Re. buying puzzles. My mom has had good luck buying them from thrift stores (very cheap!), but this only works if you can live with a piece or 2 missing, since that's a possibility with a used puzzle.

I love the puzzles that you guys are doing. That Vintage Flora one is gorgeous!

I started one a couple of days ago. It's 2000 pieces, a church in a field. It's an old one--I bought it at a thrift store. Most of the ones I buy are used.
