HI everyone! I'm a few weeks into my baby steps and have $722 in my emergency fund. I will have the $1000 on my next paycheck next week. I listen to Dave Ramsey everyday. Listened to total Money Makeover and on dvd 5 of FPU.

ok here are my stats.

  • 32 years old
  • avg 47k gross yearly last 10 years same job
  • only make 17/hr but with tons of overtime. Medical supply warehouse
  • around 3% yearly raises
  • Married and 6 mo baby. Wife stay at home mom.
  • around 5k in debt. Credit cards.
  • 1200 in rent for small apt. Lease up in September.
  • We set up a STRICT budget and using the envelope system.
  • Goal is to buy a house.

After our lease is up we want to get a cheap place to rent to tackle debt and save faster. I will take on a weekend job to increase income. Those are our short term goals. Long term is to get a better career and house. Any advice for a newbie?
