It just occured to me today that we haven't had any guests or visitors for awhile - other than guests from the mainland or other islands - I mean just drop in guests. I want my home to be comfortable and presentable for anyone at anytime. So here's my plan........

........each and everyday I am going to do something to clean and clear up my home as part of my daily home imrovement steps....and I am going to post here what I've accomplished.

Today I:
*Cleaned off the LR side chair - and put everything on it away.
*Cleared off the coffe table - put everything away and folded up the coffee table
*Cleared off the couch and put everything away.
*Started the 'going to school' pile
*Did a partial clean up of the kitchen counters - means I did not take everything off, but put things away that didn't belong there and wiped down the counters.

It's a start and I'm going to stay with it.

Good Job! I know nothing gets me motivated to clean like the thought of company. I try to keep everything put away as much as I can every day but with 2 kids, 1 husband , 3 cats and a dog it isn't always perfect here. Good luck on your challenge. = )

Mahalo Jamielane - that's why we do okay with non Maui guests - we have time to prepare. I want to be prepared for everyday guests and enjoy having peole over more often!!

Oh MM you are so sweet to worry about company! You know me and my company!...... They get what I have to offer! I wish though that I could be more organized and tidy for when they drop in.

I have one friend that NEVER calls.....just drops in, but she is so non-judgmental that I don't even think about it.....not that I would worry anyway.

Maui - I know you'll get it done, you're full of determination AND you've broken it down into baby steps. I need motivation to get my butt in gear. There's been extra and unnecessary family drama (is it ever necessary?) over my dad and well....b/c of it, I'm all blah. Not motivated to do any extra towards my 'dream' of a clean and decluttered home.

I love drop in guests. Everyone in our family knows we have a "open door" policy. Hubby grew up with a literal open door. He said you never knew who was going to be there and nearly half the town he was related too (okay that is a bit of an exaggeration).

We are working on making the house more welcoming and comfortable for us. Right now that includes working furniture, Little Miss a bed frame, a "desk" instead of a card table of the extra computer, sofa and loveseat.

Hubby ask me why I was still up. Told him I had an odd feeling that everything was fixed and I wanted to enjoy it. He said could understand the yesterday the house was broke and today lots was fixed.
