I'm cheating this month -- it looks like my emergency fund is growing by about $850, but I'm actually just moving it from the other savings account that I want to keep at around $1000. I used all I could spare from this paycheck -- I'm paid once a month -- to pay off the last of the debt.
I am also considering opening another account for a special very long term goal, and if so, that will drain off a few potential dollars as well. But in April I will start in earnest on building the emergency fund.
~Well, I keep re-inventing my savings; I guess I haven't decided what I'm saving for yet. I have my $1000 BEF completed. So I'm saving either 1 year of living expenses($25K) or cash to put an addition on this house or a down payment on a larger house. Right now there's $5400 in there(plus the BEF). This month I think I can stash away $400, my biggest challenge yet. :nerv2:~
Yesterday I was able to add $1000 to our EF. The VA education money finally arrived in our bank account. I am going to challenge myself to add atleast another $500 before the end of the month. We will see.
