With the baby coming on April 30th, I thought it would be nice to start thinking about my May goals and set them early.

May 2007

1) Spend $500 or less on groceries, toiletries, cleaning supplies, pet supplies, and baby things.
2) Eat out 10 days or less.
3) Put $4340 into savings (am expecting some big windfalls from the sell of stock and want to be sure to be motivated to put them right into savings without spending them).
4) Take care of post-baby "paperwork" (add Oliver to health insurance, up life insurance coverage, get lower rate on auto insurance, sell stock grants that have vested etc).
5) List and sell everything in my eBay pile.
6) Update the baby book and set up a blog for Oliver so that family and friends far away can keep up with what's going on.
7) Get birth announcements made and sent out.
8) Buy one Christmas present, and two birthday presents.

Happy May!

I'm in for the month!

My May goals are:

  • Lose 9 pounds

  • Have 20 no-spend days in May

  • Spend $50.00 or less on groceries

  • Post on my blog at least twice a week

  • Try to go to bed earlier and get up earlier

  • Cut down to 15 smokes a day [which would be a major accomplishment!]

Love,

Jennelle

~ Get back to hang drying laundry.
~ Menu plan for the week.
~ Bake bread.
~ Bake muffins.
~ No light on in basement during the day. Work upstairs at night, rather than in basement.
~ Clean up containers for gardening.
~ Permanent grocery exile.
~ Do a freezer/pantry inventory.
~ Ask friend to show me how to sell on e-bay...or someone else!
~ Retreat on death and dying
~ Chat /email dsis about her mindfulness course...email her info from friend on Christian meditation.
~ WW diet
~ Get back to the gym 3X a week.
~ Replace half of the light bulbs in the basement with CF bulbs...that's 3 CF bulbs.
~ Invite people in for tea and meals, rather than go out with them.
~ Focus on working on projects around the house and finishing them. I have 3 quilts to sew: 2 baby ones and an adult sized one. That will take me some time, and hopefully keep me out of on-line and real life stores.

May is a weird month for me because spring classes end, I'm going on a weekish long trip to visit my mom, and then I come back to summer classes which is a totally different schedule. But anyhow, goals:

-$80 for groceries
-No "last minute lunches" (the lunches I end up buying when I find I didn't have time to make a lunch)
-Run outside most days of the week again now that it is finally warm (once I get back from Oregon). I'm pretty worn out on my winter-cardio of ellipticals and treadmills
-Put $200 in savings
-Better time management (not sure how to better this, really)
-Bake bread again

After a few less than frugal months, we're trying to get back on track. Here are my top five for May:

1) Stick to the grocery budget to spend 15000 yen or less (the best we would have ever done)

2) Get 5 boxes packed and ready to be shipped home

3) Post on this forum at least 5 times (after some friendly prodding...) :box:

4) Learn how to make melon pan :lip:

5) Keep the dishes done every night so we're not tempted to eat out!

Good luck everyone! :grouphug:

I'm terrible with monthly goals :(
Maybe I should post them in my signature too, so I can give myself a little extra prodding.

I aimed low in April and didn't acheive anything. Maybe I'll aim high this time and see if I do any better.

May Goals:
1. Take iron supplements every day (this is crucial now as my 3rd blood test is this month and the doctor will kill me if there has still not been any improvement)
2. Clean and organize Kitchen (was supposed to be done in April, but got off to a late start after hurting my back)
3. Make lunch everyday that husband does not have a scheduled lunch meeting (already missed today :( )
4. Make summer clothes for the kids
5. Plant garden
6. Wash and put away winter clothes and coats
7. Don't buy anything except necessary food, hygiene supplies, and items required for completing other goals (ie. sewing notions & gardening supplies)
8. Clean up basement
9. Work on finishing quilt
10. Start making desserts

Ok, my May goals read more like a to-do list, but they need to get done, so here they are - I might add them to my siggy too, for more accountability.

*Get the brakes done on my car (yes, I need all 4 done - when I took my car in last week they said it would have taken too long for a Saturday morning so I need to actually have my car in the shop for a whole day).
*Get my cat's dental work done. We have two cats that need dental work (had the vet appt for shots last week, so we found that out...) - one needs just a really good cleaning, the other one needs to have a tooth pulled as well as a cleaning. I want to take care of the cat that needs the tooth pulled this month (other cat will be next month)
*Buy a washer/dryer - DH and I have talked about this and we have a model and everything picked out, we need to time it right with the finances and stuff.
*Plan a party for DH's graduation/DS's baby dedication ceremony. I want it to be June 10th at my MIL's, need to work out all the details plus a guest list, food, etc.
