"Some types of meat cost 50% more right now "

This is serious business, not just locally.

Those are packer prices, or wholesale straight from the meat cutting plant. Retail is going to be higher. I honestly don't know the current grocery store price locally because I haven't bought one in over a year.

If the packer prices have gone up by 50%, retail is eventually going to reflect that. And then east and west coast prices will go a bit higher due to transportation costs.

We paid $2/lb for corned beef brisket last week, but it was warehouse clearance. I bought 3, should have gotten more but don't eat much beef.Beef has been high here a long time, well before covid.

Also picked up 10 lbs lean hamburger at $3/lb. Didn't really need it yet but figured I better grab it since Joe's gonna limit us to 4 burgers per yr pretty soon. 🙄 🤨😁

I haven't found beef prices increasing in the last year yet. Store prices haven't gone up enough for me to notice, and the butcher I get my 1/4 cow from yearly hasn't raised their prices in at least 5 years.
