Ok well, the dr's ultrasound equipment is not going to be available until Wednesday. So Wednesday at 8 in the morning I wll be getting scanned.
Long story short, I have lost all vision in my left eye. The medi-center dr sent me to the er. He called a specialist to meet me there.
The specialist says its a hard cataract, and it should not be there.
He also is suspicious that it came on so quickly, so he thinks there is another problem he can't see. Covering my eye is a dense white cloud. He said it looks like a piece of paper. It is so dense, dh was able to see it. The dr says its impressive. The medi-center dr was amazed, he said I am very calm about it! LOL If only he could see my insides!
One of the things the specialist says, is it could have been caused from a "dormant injury". I had 2 eye surgeries when I was young, 1 at 4 when I was legally blind and then again at 17 to attempt to end some severe headaches. I have been having headaches again for the last couple years, but never a permanent blurring of vision as I experienced Friday, nor a total loss such as what I have had since Saturday. The nurse had me read the eye chart, you know, huge E so on and so on. Well I could read to line 6 with my right eye but could not even see the chart, or for that matter the nurse standing next to it.
Anyway now you all know what I do. My time online is going to be very limited for the near future as keeping my eyes open just intensifies the headaches. The headaches according to the dr are not part of the eye trouble. On that I have my doubts but I will hold on until Wednesday to get more info.
I will say the response from the drs has impressed me, first the medi-center dr, called the specialist and then came to the hospital to wait with me and dh for the specialist to show! The specialist rushed me to his office and spent 30 minutes trying to see the cause. It was so odd to be in the darkened drs wing! This man came from his home, at 10 pm to see me and he is not an on call dr! My fil says dr K is the best in his field and I am in good hands.
With my FV buddies and my Lord with me, how can it not work out????
To clarify, the headaches did not start until last night. I did tell them I had an odd feeling of being poked on top of my head. They said that did not correspond to the loss of vision.
Anyway I just wanted to update you all. I know this is not a life or death struggle and is actually pretty minor. However going blind has always been my greatest fear, having been there once, I do not wish to go back. I count my blessings and look on the positive side, even now I can see, and enjoy many of my favorite things, although reading is now more difficult as is surfing. I can not drive until my vision is restored. BUT, I can cook, garden, and knit! For now I am going to lay down as my eyes are very tired now.
Thanks you all again for the thoughts and prayers. I will keep you all in mine as well.
