Just wanted to say hello to all my buddies. I am way behind on responding to posts. Ryan has been sick with the intestinal virus since last Wed night and we are all worn out. She's been to the dr. twice and is now on Phenegren to stop the vomiting. We keep thinking she's better and boom, it hits again. So far me and Mel are okay - or are just too tired to notice. Ryan made it to school this morning and I thought she was fine. 30 minutes later they called me to come get her. If you get the virus just plan on living in your bathroom for a long, long time. When we went to the dr. the last time, she'd dropped weight and she doesn't have any to drop. She is drinking pedialyte and water and can eat dry cereal like Cheerios okay. Yesterday when I thought she was all better she even ate a sandwich. Today we're sticking to dry food.

On a happier note, I'm glad to see all the activity around the village. I'm going to get my linen closet cleaned out tonight so I can try and keep up with the Spring cleaning thread. I'm not sure which of my many UFO's I want to start on. I'll have to ponder that one a few more days. I have plenty to pick from.

So everyone, keep up all the wonderful posts and keep those fresh new ideas coming. I'll catch up before long and be right in the thick of it all.

Wish I had good news but I don't. Ryan is worse today and I'm calling the dr. the minute they open up. Something has just got to be done about this. I really am wondering if it's something more than the virus. She is in terrible pain around her belly button area. I'll let you know how it goes later in the day. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We pretty much need a miracle right now.

I hope it's not an ulcer or something. If it were her appendix she would have pain 1/2 way between her navel and hip bone, not when you push, but when you let go.

Get well soon, Ryan!

Hi Pat, a I hope things are getting better for Ryan and yourself. Tummy aches and diarrhoea are the pits. Just a little suggestions, Pat. When I was nursing on an aboriginal mission back in the 1970s we used to give the kids with diarrhoea and vomiting a raspberry drink. We call this "red cordial" but its 25% pure raspberry juice in 75% sugar/water solution. You can buy it at the supermarket here. Anyhow, my son was sick with the same thing last week - terrible stomach cramps and diarrhoea. I was reading one of my self-sufficiency mags - Grass Roots, and they said that in Africa now this raspberry drink is being used on many children there with GI bugs. Apparently the raspberry kills the bug. I gave some to DS - it was the one thing he could keep down without vomiting it up again and a few hours later he started feeling better. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but it's worth trying. The raspberry percentage needs to be at least 25% - I know Ocean Spray make a raspberry and cranberry drink. Maybe there are some others that are only raspberry in your supermarket.

I hope she gets better soon.
