A crock pot, microwave or grill can be used to prepare some things that would normally be cooked or warmed in the oven. People even bake bread in the crock pot. The casserole I made yesterday had fully cooked ingredients, the oven was just for warming everything and melting cheese. So microwaving would have been fine instead. Tuesday hubby cooked pork on the grill and also a foil-wrapped pan containing diced & seasoned potatoes. Since the grill was on anyway. Some recipes that have you start cooking in a pan, then transfer ingredients to oven dish can really just be finished on the stove at low heat. I hate washing extra pans.
