We bought in 1993 and had a 30 yr. 1994 we refinanced for 15 years at 6.34%. My husband has thrown extra money towards it and paid it off early from our original 15 yr date of 2009. I am so proud of him. He had set his mind to it and he did it. He did it so we could possibly buy a second home in Maine. We have 2 out of 4 kids going to college next year so I don't know how smart it is to be mortgage free but it has been his dream.
