Ladies, I need help! Dh cannot have hardly any fat in his diet at all and I have bananas is desperate need of using! :D

My banana bread recipe calls for butter or margerine (doesn't matter both have way too much fat) and 2 eggs. I can substitute egg beaters for the eggs, but can't I use applesauce for the butter? If so, does anyone know the equivalent? i.e. _____ cups applesauce = _____ cups of butter?

TIA

I substitute applesauce in equal amounts for oil-ie 1 cup oil=1 cup applesauce.

I mainly use this in muffins, and they always turn out better (more tender) if you put in a little oil. For my fav recipe, it call for 1/2 cup oil, so I put in 1/2 cup applesauce, less 2 tbs. and put in 2 tbs oil.

Gosh I hope that all made sense!!
