I don't own one, but sometimes consider getting one. I know most that have one love them. I'm wondering when making things, what makes you decide to choose to use it over a crockpot?

I have a huge oval crockpot and use it often is why I ask.

I had one in my cart last year and then put it back. lol I was so on the fence about it.

ROFL, talk about confused, I read that whole thing thinking..."aren't Nesco's those little round candy wafers?" Duh Melissa Nesco isn't Necco!! I haven't ever seen one, but if you get one let us know how you like it! :)

I have a 6qt. I use it for meatloaf and quick breads because the loaf pan fits in nicely and it heats up the kitchen less than the oven. Dh has used it for making homemade soup and chili.

We used to have an 18qt. one that we would make turkeys in and huge batches of chili. I also used it for brownies, etc. that were made in a 13x9 size pan. It got moved around so many times that it finally bit the bullet and died and we've never replaced it though I have wanted to.

As far as using them instead of a crockpot - the temperature setting is just like an oven so things cook faster in it than in a crockpot.

Now I really want one. :) Putting it on my wishlist.

Since I switched from my round crockpot to my oval, I've found it really takes longer to cook meals. Having something that isn't heating a big oven and is faster than my crockpot sounds great.

i have one but haven't used it yet. i lady i work with burnt potoes in it for Easter and got so mad about it she bought a new one and offered me her old one. there is nothing wrong with it and she even scrubbed it lol. i think she just used it as an excuse to get a new one:laugh: but not being one to turn down anything free that could be useful, i gladly took it not knowing excatly what to do with it. glad to know i can bake bread in it. we may have just dh's mom and fil over for thanksgiving with us and i think a small turkey will fit in it nicely so that may be the first time it gets used lol.

We actually have 2 of them and they are great. Dh got them when he cooked a meal for his business meeting that he holds each year. It was much cheaper than having it catered ofcourse. My oven has been out for a while and when I wanna bake something I just get the nesco out. I'd recommend it Sara, it's a handy little thing when you need it. Ofcourse it's large, takes up lots o'space.....:toothy:
