Might as well have a thread about it. :laugh:

Our plan is not due to change until Sept4 (new billing cycle) so we do have some time. I think we may go with the streaming only and use our library and free redbox codes.

I'm keeping..I actually upped my DVD's to 5 at a time. We can't stream anyways since we're overseas.

But with this new price structure, 5 DVD's at a time is cheaper than the 4 DVD's with streaming than they used to have.

It takes a week for a DVD to get to us and a week to get back. That's why we have so many. No family nearby to babysit so this is the only way we see new movies

BF and I are switching to streaming only. Sometimes a disk would sit for a week or more while we waited to get together to watch it at the same time. Just not worth it.

was already planning on dropping ours to streaming only since we NEVER get around to watching the DVD. So I went ahead and dropped us down. I think a LOT of people are going to go this route.

I was upset because it was a good way to be able to see the back-episodes of tv shows on disk, but yet catch a movie on the off chance I get to sit for 2 hours streaming. I am not sure yet what I will do. Not everything is available for streaming, and I think they do this on purpose so that you have to get the discs, too, if you want to be able to see everything they have to offer.

DH switched us to DVDs only. We get about 2 a week and make it "date" night.

I'm a little ticked that this happened right after we took the plunge and bought a new HDMI monitor to use with the AppleTV we were given at Christmas last year. We only bought the fancy monitor so DH could stream Netflix in addition to the DVDs to get some anime and tv shows he liked.

We chose dvds over streaming going forward since most of what we want to watch is not available for streaming. I'd say less than 10% of our queue can be streamed right now.

I'd say Netflix seriously underestimated its customer base, but what do I know. My stock isn't worth $200 a share.

Neither is theirs, they crept over $300 a share a few days ago, and has stayed just under since.

I'm not changing anything. 2 discs at a time, bluray and streaming. Netflix still has the best deal I can find that compares.

Any time Netflix makes changes, the internet gets into a tizzy, claiming they are going to quit. While I can't back it up, it's unlikely very many actually do.

I was thinking about getting Netflix streaming a try but wasn't sure if it was worth it. I tried to check out what they had but didn't see much. Maybe I wasn't able to see what they truly had.

Those of you that stream what do you watch that makes it worth the money.

I looked at how much we spend on DVD rentals a month and we send less than a dvd netflix subscription would be. SO that doesn't seem like it would be worth it unless I am missing something.

We typically watch television shows that have already run their course. We like to start a show, and watch to completion. Currently, we are watching the Star Trek series. My instant queue is about as full as it can get, so sometimes we just scroll without looking, and watch whatever we stop on.

I like the idea of streaming but my DH says this doesn't work for all movies (???). So that stinks.

We are on the 2 DVD plan now and don't do a lot of streaming.

I do like Redbox but there selection is limited.

We cancelled it Dec of 08'. Was just thinking about getting it again when this hit.
Actually think still might on the DVD's. Our internet isn't unlimited at home but is at work. So can't watch at home and have heard some real horror stories about $400 to $800 internet bills from the internet people themselves and a few from people who got the bills. One guys was over $700.
The streaming...before it was separated/raised was thinking maybe at work. But after looking at the link of availables from above post I don't think so. Hulu is better.
Hulu is now a 2 week trial then you pay. But there's tons more to watch on it apparently.

We are probably going to keep our instant streaming. We watch a lot of older series and I like the instant back to back episodes! lol

I also like that I can scroll and rate movies. I just went to the library and couldn't remember if I had watched a particular movie. I logged onto Netflix and saw I had rated it poorly (probably why I didn't remember) and put it back.

Even with the increase, it's still a good deal. I think the problem was the drastic increase and no discount for having both services.

~Well rats! I was enjoying watching Perry Mason on discs. But mostly we watch streaming. So we'll downgrade. I pay for Netflix with my own pocket money and a $6 a month increase is over 10% of my pocket money. That's not at all worth the 4-5 dvd's I'd get through the mail.
I'd be better off buying the series used and selling it when I'm done with it. :/ ~

Dropping to streaming only and I'll use Redbox for the few movies I might want to watch. Netflix is still a very good deal when compared to what expanded basic or more costs on cable. Plus we can use our Netflix account at both of our houses.
