I may have to make a perishables run again this coming week, but am otherwise living on what I find in my cupboards. I went to lunch with my mother on Friday, and she loaded me up with Korean food, so I'm golden right now. :)

I'm feeling really good about the month as a whole!!

I need another run for produce, but we are certainly eating well, and I'm clearing out the shelves of the freezer as much as I can -
I also took another trip to the food bank to donate - we don't need to eat some of this crap. WHY did I buy hamburger helper?

I'm refusing to buy meat - so my hubby, who's craving meat - and hardly ever eats fast food - he couldn't take it anymore - he went to Wendy's to get a burger! LOLOL!

I've made a huge dent this month, not only in my monthly grocery costs, but also in pantry space.

I did have to go to the grocery store on Friday night. We unexpectedly made plans to meet the neighbors for cards and dinner on Saturday night and because it was a gorgeous day in the 60s (first time this spring) we wanted to grill (my world famous "can't share the recipe" garlic) steaks, so I had to pick them up, along with some mushrooms and asparagus.

While there I picked up 10 cans of progresso soup (normally $2.29, on sale for $0.88) and 10 cans of beans (since I used mine up cooking chili last week, on sale for $0.89) to add to my stockpile. NOTHING else (and I'm sure you'll all agree that is somewhat of a major accomplishment for staying on task in a grocery store. LOL).

So, not a grocery free month, but overall, pretty darn good.

Other than adding things to my stockpile if they have any great sales next week, I have no need to return to the grocery store this month.

So overall, I think I did pretty well and I could actually pretty much cook out of my pantry for most if not all of April too, except for some milk and fresh produce (and that will start reducing later when my vegetable garden gets going). Honestly, I barely made a dent in there this month - I "maybe" reduced my chest freezer contents by 10-20%?

Heck, I'm pretty sure I still have a pork tenderloin, ham and two turkeys (plus more stuff!), so that's practically three weeks worth of meals right there!

Okay, bought one non-perishable item - I have not been able to find a permanent coffee filter that fits a 4-cup basket, so I caved in and bought a pack of disposables. Also bought Half and Half and soymilk. :)

Tonight will probably be ham and potato soup, using up leftovers in the fridge. :)

Been cooking out of the pantry/fridge all week. Still got PLENTY more to go.

Truthfully I could easily skip the grocery store this month, except my Jewel happens to be having some nice loss leaders on a three day sale through tomorrow. So I will probably go and pick some stuff up, especially to use up some coupons I have that are expiring next week and are on sale this week. Am also going to pick up a substantial amount of pasta for my stockpile (one of the items I have been itching to cross off my "need to stockpile" list. Will probably also pick up some HBA stuff.

so far, so good.

I've packed another bag to donate to the food bank - I really don't even like Better Crocker potatoes in a box, so I'm going to share those.

I did go to Publix yesterday & get a bunch of carrots & asparagus for dinner, as well as 4 bags of dog food ($.59 after coupons), a bottle of Worch sauce (free after coupon) and 2 silk soymilks.

total spent $13 and I didn't get much that will clog up space & suck up my oxygen - except that bottle of sauce, so maybe I'll toss it in the food bank bag too - I don't "need" it.

I am still doing well, also. My last trip was for all perishable stuff. I need to get more salad for the bunnies, but I think I'm set on everything else for the rest of the week.

OK... stocked up a BUNCH for my stockpile, which I am not counting against this challenge.

What I *am* counting against this challenge is the chicken I bought, the fresh produce: grapes, bananas, celery, onions, asparagus and mushrooms yogurt, and milk. Forgot to buy bread, but I think I need that too. So, not bad for a first shopping trip of the month. :)
