I HAVE to lose a few pounds between now and Dec. 11 (doctor's appt), so I intend to decrease my food intake and increase my exercising.

Also I plan on continuing to pull this house together. It's been 8 months since we moved in and it's still not the way I want it.

I will also start some baking/freezing for the holidays.

My one goal, and it's important to me, is to finish the NaNoWriMo mentioned in the Hobbies/Writers section. I think I can do it, but it will mean fewer visits here and some real pre-November preparation house-wise. I hope hope HOPE I can finish!

I'm going to try this too --- even if I don't finish, it will fun trying. This is my first attempt. Good Luck to you!!! and everyone else who is giving this a try :hugz:

I am having surgery on the 30th so I need to get quite a bit accomplished before that:

- Finish all Christmas Shopping
- Cook many meals ahead so we can just reheat for dinners
- finish weatherproofing house
- send out Christmas cards (already signed)
- get all TDI paperwork in order
- beef up EF as it'll be a few weeks after the surgery before we see any TDI checks
- Decorate house for holidays
- Make and freeze Christmas cookie batters

I am sure I will find many more, but this stuff is "must do" for now!

I didn't do too well with my October goals, so this month will be a bit of a rehash.

~ sell more of Mom's stuff on-line to empty out my basement studio.
~ finish the English Medallion Quilt.
~ finish the inset applique piece of stitchwork.
~ finish Christmas ornaments to sell at an upcoming sale.
~ organize a display for the sale.
~ get posters up around town for the sale.
~ finish reading "Gracious Living", complete with exercises to help speed DH and I onto setting goals and priorities. This is so hard for me!
~ determine if we can afford a trip to Costa Rica next spring or not.
~ pick up a sofa for cheap...secondhand. I refuse to pay $2000 for a new sofa!
~ continue de-cluttering and flinging stuff.
~ get DD#1's stuff to her.

That's all I can think of right now.

I'm very pleased so far. It's been one week and I've managed some big things for me...
~ sell more of Mom's stuff on-line to empty out my basement studio. - I sorted stuff yesterday and gave 4 boxes to goodwill and 5 boxes to a needy friend. Only have 1 box for selling on-line and 2 other boxes of books for my brother.
~ finish the English Medallion Quilt. - this will be a project for this week.
~ finish the inset applique piece of stitchwork. - bought the spray paint to paint the hanging device, but it busted on the way home and we lost the nozzle. Now I need to phone the paint store and see if they sell nozzles for those thing. I'll check the floor of the car and under the seat for it first.
~ finish Christmas ornaments to sell at an upcoming sale. - this is a project for the next two weeks. Should finish stitching this week.
~ organize a display for the sale. - sent out a blanket email to guild members. Sent a copy of the forms and information to be put in the November newsletter. Now I need to arrange people to help me take work in and organize it.
~ get posters up around town for the sale. - DONE! And had a good chat with a neighbor while doing it.
~ finish reading "Gracious Living", complete with exercises to help speed DH and I onto setting goals and priorities. This is so hard for me! - almost finished. Want to finish by Wednesday, when we meet next with our financial planner.
~ determine if we can afford a trip to Costa Rica next spring or not. - well, that will depend on our discussion with the financial planner.
~ pick up a sofa for cheap...secondhand. I refuse to pay $2000 for a new sofa! - DONE! Found a used hide-a-bed in excellent condition, plus a matching chair, for $200. The owner threw in 2 nice living room lamps for free. We rented a van for $50 and convinced DD#2's BF and roomie to help move for the cost of pizza - $45. So, for $300 we got ourselves a drop down great hide-a-bed and chair.
~ continue de-cluttering and flinging stuff. - DH has been so impressed on how I'm doing with the fall fling that he has been considering sorting through stuff in the utility room. This is good. I am considering it too. I'm hoping we can get in it and work together. I want to buy some containers to organize things. It will cost some money, but it will clean things up considerably. Plus, I've upped my fall fling from 1000 to 1500 things to get rid of. I've already met my 1000 goal.
~ get DD#1's stuff to her. - DH thinks this is a bad idea, and we should just hang onto things until she decides to talk to us again. I don't think she will. But if we clean out the utility room, we'll be able to consider his sensibilities and fit the two boxes downstairs.
So major movement already this month. Seems things go in spurts when it comes to organization and frugality. Now I'm working on replacing our bed and freezer frugally. The freezer isn't a priority until January. I am thinking they may be on sale then. The bed is a higher priority, and it's got to be a comfortable one. My back is feeling it's age.

My November Goals:

I tend to start some things and not really finish. I am getting more on track though so here goes:

1) Declutter guest room before mother-in-law comes for a visit (this is a bit of a chore as it is the main catch all room and is currently filled with boxes!)
2) Finish wedding gift for friends (cross stitch and framing)
3) Finish Christmas gifts that have to be shipped.
4) Ship Christmas gifts!
5) Clear out rest of workshop - I discovered yesterday that I have a few hours of pulling nails.
6) Seal workshop to stop basement leak.
7) Swap seasonal clothes and get out winter outerwear.
8) Rake and bag leaves.
9) Wash wash while MIL is here.
10) Get patio door replaced (leaks air badly and has safety issue)
11) Deal with roofing issue.
12) Help hubby prepare for interview (November 28th!)
13) Read Change Your Attitude before It's Too Late and put it into practice
14) Read Biochemical, Physiological, and Molecular Aspects of Human Nutrition
15) Do additional reserach for book
16) Write at least 30 pages of book (hopefully more)
17) Put together basic GF recipes for beginners.
18) Organize freezer/get rid of freebie freezer (more energy than benefit).
19) Track spending.
20) Scrapbook pages from daughter's birthday party.

Whew - sounds like a lot. MIL will be a great help as she tends to do dishes/floors/general tidying while she is here and I can do some other things while having an extra pair of eyes watch my younger children or meet my older daughter at the bus stop. Hubby has been contacted for an interview during that time so it should be interesting as MIL and I will have a good chance to talk. She has always been frugal and I can glean a lot from her!
