I found it last week as I was cleaning out my basement. I found the charger, the software and the handheld itself; I did not find the USB cord to go with it. Oh well!

I turned it on and it was so bare.

I've decided to input the stuff from my cell phone into this because one day, I may need to use it instead of my cell phone. This thing is great. It may take me a bit of time tog et back into putting things on this instead of my cell phone but it'll be really good for when I need to have the cell phone off (like in the hospital) and don't want to push ten million buttons to get to the thing I want. I have to do the latter with my cell phone right now.

Anyone else have a Palm handheld organizer and use that instead of a notebook, cell phone or other personal device?

Yes, my husband won a free palm a couple years ago and used it for a little while(for his job) but I think he thought it was a pain in the butt. He lost the cord and charger and it sits in our junk door. :thud:

I never really played with it much but I know a lot of people love it.

I used to and it was awesome. I had a zire - I think it's a standard USB cable, so you probably have another one lying around that fits it. Then I inherited my husbands treo when he got a blackberry. The Treo was great because it was my cell phone and all my organizing stuff. I used the desktop software for calendar, to do and memos - I kept grocery lists and recipes in the memos - and databases (gifts, etc.) then would sync before going out so I'd have my lists and menu and calculator, etc. right in my hands while shopping.

Mine broke and I'm still struggling to find a system that works for me. I can't justify buying a new one.

We have an extra charger, usb cable & hardware cd for a palm z22 if you need it.
Hubby has a Z22 palm & uses it all the time. He's due for an upgrade in his cell & will be getting a phone with palm capabilities.
He keeps track of all kinds of things in it like all car, tractor etc oil filter #'s, type of oil they take etc. When they've been changed last.... b'days...email & reg addys...everything. He'd be lost without it.

Oh he also gets rss feeds (Using sunrise & plucker) from his favorite columnists to read while at work or waiting at appointments.

I love my Palm Z22. It's pretty old school compared to a lot of handhelds now, but I've tweaked it to do what I need it to. And the nice thing about it being a little older and not trendy, I've gotten accessories for it dirt cheap on eBay. (A genuine leather, NIB Palm brand cover for it, for $10!).

I use it for all my appointments, addresses and family info. I bought the the Splash Shopper software to manage grocery lists, otherwise, the original software it came with has been enough for me.

I use the free Adobe reader for Palm OS ( http://downloads.zdnet.com/abstract.aspx?kw=Adobe+Acrobat+Reader&docid=196520 ) to convert and read free e-books from Gutenberg.org. (I've been reading "Emma" forever since I usually only read while I'm waiting some where, LOL).

The original games it came with are great. It's saved my sanity more than once with bored kids in a waiting room.

I had a z22 that last less than 2 years. I loved it but when it died I upgraded to a T/X that we got at an unbelievable price. I have a cell phone but I only use it as a phone. My palm is my lifesaver. Favorite things are my contact list and calendar. I downloaded solitaire from a free site and enjoy it. I also like that this one has wireless internet on it so I can access it whereever there is wifi.

Okay, I'm going to dig in the pile of cords and junk downstairs and see if the old zire is still there and working - I think it probably went in a freecycle box though. I've been a disorganized mess since my treo died, maybe I actually can justify something new. Do they even make them anymore? I mean ones without phones in them - I don't want another cell phone.

It's ironic that this topic has come up because I just lost years (like 15 years) worth of addresses and phone numbers when my Palm died. And since we bought new computers this year, I hadn't yet installed the Palm program and backed it up. Even though I have another Palm that I use for WeightWatchers, I'm going back to the old tried and true paper address book.

The Palm store on-line still sells 3 versions and has free shipping. Check local places like Staples. I got mine there last year very cheap.

I have a Palm Tungsten C that was gifted to me when my technologically obsessed best friend upgraded from the Tungsten to the Treo.

With the wireless router in my house, I can check emails and get online from anywhere in the house. I keep all kinds of lists on it - authors recommended to me, shopping lists, present lists, addresses, - you name it. It's always with me and I adore that dumb thing.

I know one thing. I can never, ever get a Blackberry / Crackberry. :wink:
