Good bye 30 yr mortgage. I am glad you are gone. You are now paid in full. ( I mailed off my final payment today)

Wow, this is an amazing achievement! Well done. I bet you're so relieved. Did you do any extra budgeting to pay it off? I still have 18 years on my mortgage. I would love to be mortgage-free!

Thank you everyone. It was such a great feeling to have it done. I started from the very beginning of the loan and always made sure I rounded up the payment, and then started pouring in the extra money as much as I could each month. near the end we would do double payments until it was what I could pay the whole amount off.at the beginning it was only a few dollars, near the end it was so much more. some months much more than others depending on what I had available. We of course made sure we had no other loan or cc payments going out too, I paid those off first. We also made sure we had a healthy emergency fund too.

Such a simple approach, yet obviously very effective. I think we're all looking for a magical way to pay off debt fast, but the truth is, it's sheer scrimping and saving that'll get you there. Thank you for sharing your story, it's very inspiring. I'm currently chipping away at my debts (I have a very clear path to becoming debt free and so far, so good). I'll let you all know when I'm out of the red and into the black!
