So here's the situation (heheh...just made my self think of Jersey Shore):

I am currently employed full-time in a contract position with no benefits that has no possibility of renewal and will end in September.

There is a job posting for an organization I used to work for doing the job I used to do, but on a permanent part-time basis (hourly rate is higher than the hourly rate for the full-time gig I have right now, and I think there are basic benefits attached). I have not applied yet but am going to, and stand a pretty decent chance of getting it.

It would give me time to a) pick up another part-time jobor b) work on my consulting business, which right now is dormant.

On the down side, it is part-time and likely to stay that way for a while, and it would mean not as much moeny coming in initially, at least until I could supplement it with other income.

Any thoughts, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

If it was me, I'd do the permanent part time with benefits and see if there is another PT job elsewhere that could supplement.

If it was me I would stay with the full-time because September is a long way off and something else full-time might come up before then. But it depends on which job you prefer, and whether or not you would like to be working on the consulting business.

It's a wash for me, unless one of them is going to provide benefits like insurance, profit sharing, retirement matching, etc. Do you need the benefits? If so, keep looking for a full time job, even if you switch jobs in the meantime.

I'd stick with the full-time job for now if you are enjoying it, as finding a 2nd part-time supplementary job in this economy is easier said than done, at least around here.
