When I began teaching, I was paid once a month. That really worked well, as bills were once a month, and once those were paid, I knew I could eat on what was left! Later, my husband was still paid once a month and I took a job where I was paid twice a month. We still tried to live like we were paid once a month. I've never been paid weekly, and I don't think I would like it.

It's probably all in what you are used to, but I was curious. What is your preference in your pay schedule, and why?

I don't really know what ms preference is to be honest, I get paid every two weeks, and also the 14/29 of every month. My payment kind of switches over to when the parents get paid which kind of suck but I try to be strict and give them the two options every two weeks or 14/29 which sons months fall in with the every two weeks.

My dad was a farmer, so pay time depended on when he sold grain or a truck load of hogs, etc. I don't see how my folks managed a budget at all with that kind of pay schedule. Guess it was a good thing I wasn't running the books!

~Ever since I started working at 16, I've only known being paid every two weeks. I got paid that way at two different jobs and DH has always been paid that way at this job.
I'd like being paid once a month so I would only have to record and add one number into the ledger. BUT since some of that paycheck has been mine and owed to me for a couple weeks at the point they give me the check, I'd lose money on interest. Interest may not be great right now but it's still my money and my interest.
So a weekly check would be best financially.
Monthly would be best for simplification.~

DH gets paid weekly. I like it, I have the mortgage getting paid weekly and money going into savings weekly as well. The amount of income each month doesn't vary too much so our budget for food, entertainment, etc doesn't usually change, and I track everything as we spend. The only thing I really have to be aware of is 3 months of the year I have an extra weekly mortgage payment and biweekly car payment, so I have to make sure I put extra money away for that during 5 pay cheque months.

I've always been paid every two weeks. It seems to work for us: the bulk of this paycheck goes to the mortgage, a portion of the next goes to kids school, the other bills come out of the pay that is closest to their due date.

DH gets paid as he finishes a job, so he fills in any gaps.

Once a month would be interesting. It would really help in budgeting, I think.

When hubby and I were active military, we were paid on the 1st and 15th. Now we are both paid every two weeks, but since we both work through the same city, it's the same payday for both of us. It'd be nice if it were staggered and we got a check each week.

I get paid on the 15th and last day of the month. The budget at the beginning of the month tends to be a little tight, but otherwise I like the schedule.

In a previous position many years ago I way paid every two weeks. I hated it because bill were due once a month and it didn't sync well.

We get paid every two weeks. The thing I like about that way is every once in a while you get three paychecks in one month. And that paycheck is bigger since health insurance doesn't come out of it.

Since hubby is on salary all paychecks but that elusive third check are the same. we budget on the two check months so the third one feels like a bonus. LOL

I get paid on the 10th & 25th. I put myself in the position where my mortgage is paid out of the 10th funds and every other bill I have is out of the 25th funds. I pay a couple of things on the early side as they bill me for them on the 26th or 27th and as soon as the e-mail notification hits they are paid.

I really love how I have it worked out...but it took some years to figure it all out and make it work.

For the last twenty years, I've been paid once a week. I learned to budget and work around the smaller, more frequent pay periods (like taking out 1/4 of big bills each week, like the mortgage, when I was paying that). Before that, I got paid once a month, which I didn't like because it was just so long to go between getting money coming in (however, back then, I was just a kid and really didn't budget as well as I do now). Still, I'm very accustomed to the weekly paycheck. I also like the extra paydays each year and plan pet vet visits, gifts, and other "extras" around those paydays. Interesting topic.

15th i call week 2 and goes to bills due later in month .

Most of my jobs were on the first and middle of the month pay days. Did have a few part-time jobs that were every other month or weekly.

Now it is once a month. I think having a monthly budget is what keeps me on track each month.

i've had jobs where i've been paid monthly, daily (substituting at a daycare), bi-weekly, and bi-monthly.

i prefer bi-weekly because that way you can have your mortgage payments come out right after you get paid and do the accelerated bi-weekly schedule and save money. also the extra cheque's in a 3 cheque month are nice.

right now dh and i get paid bi-weekly on alternate weeks so we have money coming in every week. it's nice.

I've had monthly, weekly, and bi-weekly. I prefer monthly. I think that weekly is the worst. Right now both DH and I are bi-monthly on the same week.

For 25yrs I've had the 15th and 30th as paydays unless they were non-work days. I had my bill money and savings direct deposited. The money left in my check was for gas, groceries, hair, nails, etc. I didn't have a debit card so on the chance I ran out of money,I was able to bum some $$ from DH who has always been paid weekly.
Right now I have to figure out a new system. I just retired and SS and pension come in the same week. I got a debit card a few months ago so tried taking funds out on the 15th and 30th and it hasn't worked out yet.
