I was wondering if anyone plants around their tree bases and if so what do you plant? I was thinking hostas. LOL  or maybe just researching some nice companion plants for the trees I want to accent.
I am a huge fan of pachysandra and plan to plant a considerable amount of it throughout my yard, but I am not certain I want to do that around the trees.

someone before us planted some sort of plant. it looks like big blades of grass and then from the middle blooms a purple flower that looks like itty bitty bluebells. i can't for the life of me remember what they are. my mom planted them between the two sections of their drive way.
